Me and probably most people on this forum were really pulling for the Iranian protestors although protests rarely end up in any kind of victory unless you live in Portland. It appears that the regime has brutally put down the insurgents. Death tolls ranging from 3000 to 30,000. Trumps threats notwithstanding. I hope his promises didn't end up getting any of them killed but we will probably never know. When he made his statement that help was on the way, I was genuinely curious as to how he was going to do it. Doesn't matter now because it never materialized. Now he wants to negotiate nukes. I thought he destroyed their nuke program.

I admit to not following the news very closely.

Does anybody know wtf is going on over there?

Genuine question.

I read that the US is repositioning a carrier strike group to that region, so something may be in works, but it is probably just a tool to use for negotiations.

I agree, he said he would help, but it seems like it is too late now. Disappointing that he talked the talk but didn't back it up.

Their leader is in hiding because he is afraid he will get taken out. Wish someone would take him out.

We have more assets over there than I can believe. From multiple F15 Eagle specialized strike groups and other select bombers that have had well known success in the region …35s from all 3 services…add’l battle fleet supports beyond the usual for CVN72…from Aviano to Diego Garcia….the system is primed.

This could get nasty. The Mullahs better recognize!

That strike group has apparently also gone dark with transponders turned off.

I've got a lot to say on this but I'll try to keep it short and hit on a few areas that seem to be the main pretexts to justify this war.

- The 30,000 number of protesters killed is a complete hoax and has been pretty thoroughly discredited at this point.  Most estimates range in the 3000 area, with nearly 1000 being Iranian police.  This is obviously unacceptable by any standard, but it goes to show that these have not been peaceful protests like western media would lead you to believe, and if they were they wouldn't need to lie about the fatalities.

- It's very likely that these protests are not organic, or if they started organically they were very likely intensified by intelligence agencies.  Mossad has a massive intelligence network in Iran and you know damn well they're going to use it, and the CIA has been heavily involved there for decades.  This is the same strategy we've seen since Vietnam over and over again, but in this case it looks like the regime change protests were unsuccessful so we now have to move on to different means.

- A lot of the economic hardship that brought on these protests were created by the aggressive sanctions that we put in place against Iran, so there's that. . .

- I've heard literally my entire life that (insert middle eastern country here) is "weeks away" from enriching uranium to nuclear weapons levels.  It's been a straight lie every single time and it will be this time to.  We actually had full oversight of Iran's nuclear program (everyone is entitled to clean and safe nuclear energy as far as I'm concerned) and could track all uranium entering and leaving the country, but after we bombed their nuclear sites they pulled out of that agreement and we now have zero oversight.  They had no way of actually building a nuclear weapon before, but now they very well could if they chose to since we (or Israel) made such a stupid and short sighted move.

- Diplomacy was never on the table.  When Trump called for a diplomatic solution before the last attack bombers were already in the air, it was a complete sham.  For a supposedly aggressive nation Iran sure did seem to exercise a lot of restraint by symbolically striking back at a vacated part of our base, and even called us ahead of time to let us know where they would be targeting.

- Finally the real kicker for me, we have zero business getting into any kind of foreign confrontation regardless of how justified any misguided idiot may think it is.  We're almost $40T in debt, the Pentagon has failed it's last 8-9 audits in a row with hundreds of billions of dollars completely unaccounted for, and the last conflict we started in the middle east cost us approximately $9T, a huge amount of which is completely unaccounted for.  We have failing infrastructure, a joke of an education system, and massive government fraud at levels that are unfathomable, and some people still want to go even further in the hole for a regime change war we have zero business fighting?  Give me a break.

It was so reckless to tell them that help was on the way. You better sure you’re going to be there for someone in a dire situation, if you say that. It has really pissed me off. I don’t think there’s a solid reason to not be mad at him for doing that. Usually, he says bs and nobody gets killed. This time people did.

Not our problem. Maybe the IDF should have sent some of their soldiers to help us in Iraq and Afghanistan instead of dragging us over there to get humiliated.

It is our problem, because they fund terrorism around the world. It would also show others in the Middle East that the regimes they live under can be toppled. There is nothing negative about getting rid of Islamic theocracies. It’s naive to say it is not our problem.

Man they can scare you into believing anything can’t they.

So what happens when the current regime falls?  Does the problem just go away now and everyone lives peacefully?  Did that approach work in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, or anywhere ever?  Is it really gonna be different this time?

The people of Iran will vote for the type of government they want after a transition period. They 100% will not vote for an Islamic theocracy. You do realize Iran was a very prosperous, productive country before the installation of the Ayotollah. I’m just afraid though, like many others that agree with me. I’m sorry I don’t get my info from Tucker.

The people are very different from the other places you mentioned. They’re not remotely similar.

The Iranian revolution in 1979 was a reaction to the puppet government that had been installed after the CIA/MI6 coup in 1953 had overthrown the democratically elected leader of Iran because he nationalized the country’s oil industry. Any country seeking financial independence free of western influence and central banking = your days are numbered.

… on slightly different note, those wiki leaks or that Snowden guy 15 years ago released government documents stating pretty much every single Islamic extremist group has been founded by Mossad and cia.

Lots of fuckery going on over there. Who’s is the right/wrong changes by the moment. It’s all about power and money though. The motives behind any action America takes are not altruistic.

Very well said. Thank you. The same group of people who fell for WMD in Iraq are falling for same damn dog and pony show. It’s unbelievable as if sending their kids over there to get PTSD wasn’t bad enough, now they want to send their grandchildren.

This is not a slight on our troops at all. I have nothing but respect for them. Israel does fuck all for the US but blackmail our politicians. They can fight (and pay for) their own war.

Yea it’s pretty unbelievable people keep falling for the same shit over and over again.

Fear is a great motivator and that is the emotion they elicit to sway public opinion and garner support for their sociopathic agenda, but ignorance is the tool they rely upon most fundamentally because the ‘fear’ they use is not a rational fear, but a fear born of ignorance. Without ignorance this fear has no place to grow its roots.

It’s actually pretty impressive to see the mental somersaults some will do to keep their stupidity intact and operating smoothly. Man is capable of such amazing things, it’s unfortunate we let such base materialistic ambition dictate our collective existence.

It's going to be interesting to say the least. Trump's foreign policy has been dramatically different from the normal strategy to say the least. We hear a lot about we did xyz and it ended up a cluster fuck. So maybe THE WAY we handled things in the past was the problem? Not THAT we did something. Arguably if 3 of the 4 last Presidents had stopped Russian invasions when they started, the Ukraine war would be off the table and we would be living in some of the most peaceful times in history. I believe the Abraham Accord(s?) would have been expanded by now. Remember in his first term, the shit he got for meeting with NoKoKim? Everything about him is unconventional. But look what conventional has got us. Bush's Iraq war, Obama's Afghanistan war, Biden's Ukraine war. Can you really do worse?

The only thing unconventional about trump is his ability to get the media present him as such

All he’s done is rename, rebrand, and regurgitate the same sociopathic and behaviors and actions that all representatives of government have always possessed and displayed.

None of our most fundamental issues have been even remotely addressed, and they never will be because government and The State is not built for us, or in place for our benefit.

The sooner people stop waiting around, hoping, and expecting a politician (or any external force) to come and “save them”, the sooner they can be saved (by themselves).

And on some things I can agree with but you're so focused "government bad" you miss the good stuff.

And BTW, who's waiting for Trump to save us? What exactly do you think we are waiting for?

We’d be living in the most peaceful time in history if we stopped meddling with the Middle East and we didn’t enact the color code revolutions throughout Eastern Europe in the 90s and 2000s that provoked Russia into retaliation.  Creating a problem and then trying to “solve” it is not an accomplishment.

It’s also not going to be “interesting” to watch thousands upon thousands of innocent people get killed.  This isn’t a show for your entertainment, these are living people who will die in the most heinous ways because a few people decided that they were an acceptable loss for whatever their disgusting ends are.  I still remember being in elementary school when one of my classmates dad was killed in Iraq, that girl grew up without a father and that family was never the same.  This isn’t some sick joke, these are real people on both sides who’s lives are being played with as if they don’t even matter, we deserve better than this.

You apparently don't know the difference between entertaining and interesting so to save you the trouble of looking it up

"Entertainment often relies on emotional responses, such as laughter, suspense, or excitement, making it a popular choice for social gatherings and leisure activities. Conversely, interesting content tends to engage the intellectual faculties, encouraging analysis, discussion, and reflection, making it suitable for educational settings or personal growth."

If what we had been doing for decades worked so well, there would be no President Trump. So your analysis of what he does is based on a result of how other president's fucked up. You don't know the outcome of what will happen precisely because he does things different.

I don't know what's going to happen and neither do you. So why the panties in a wad?

I ain’t the one that said I’d release the files and show the truth. I ain’t the one who claimed it’s a democratic hoax. I ain’t the one completely full of shit.

"The only thing unconventional about trump..." You apparently only see what you want to see.

And on some things I can agree with but you're so focused "government bad" you miss the good stuff.

And BTW, who's waiting for Trump to save us? What exactly do you think we are waiting for?

The marketing genius of the trump admin is their ability to present conventionality as unconventional.

Government is bad. There is nothing it can do to make your situation better without making someone else’s situation worse. Which in the long run, makes everyone’s lives worse. That essential and inseparable characteristic is the reason it is inherently flawed.

Do you really believe other men have a better idea and possess a legitimate right over your own to dictate how you spend, save, and make your money? Are you really ok with other men dictating how you are to raise your children?

What do I think you are waiting for? I think you are waiting and expecting another man or group of men to dictate our collective livelihoods in a fashion you find more palatable.

And ya know TM I understand you’re just being pragmatic. And within the context of your pragmatism, I understand and generally agree with your position.
The difference between you and I, is that your pragmatism is reliant upon the belief that the state, the government, and the men that control these mechanisms, possess an authority that is legitimate, and have the ability to act with your best interests in mind.

I am also pragmatic, but my pragmatism is only pragmatic under the presumption that our current social, cultural, and economic systems of organization are inherently and fundamentally flawed. That nothing authentically good and honorable and long lasting and sustainable and equitable can come of it. I am of the opinion that no actions based upon the most fundamental of American principles can be achieved within our current paradigm. And so if you believe what I believe, then the only practical solution is world wide sociocultural revolution.

You'd have to be pretty nieve to expect to NOT be lied to by any government. That doesn't mean they're not working to change things for the better. And not everyone agrees on what's better.

What happens to employees of Mr. ToolMaker when they repeatedly lie?
