Or, if you drove your parents car to high-school, what was it - what did you drive ?

*BONUS round, were you in the 8-Track, Cassette, CD or IPOD/ MP3 vehicle/ musical collaboration ?

Me ? My 1975 Kawasaki KS-125 and my dad's '67 Plymouth Fury (318) and '69 Rover TC 2000 (an odd car for even Massachusetts !)

* 8-track then cassettes for me.

I bought my brother in laws step side GMC pickup from him with camper shell. Started with eight tracks and a really cool pioneer equalizer. I was one of the first at my HS to switch to cassettes.

1969 Opel GT Dark Green with tan leather
Definitely 8-track. Pioneer Super-Tuner. Remember those? With Jensen co-axials. YES!

Traded in for 1974 Ford Econoline (Blue with blue vinyl!) to haul my YZ250 around in. First of MANY Ford vehicles.

74 Ford Courier.

No stereo of any kind but If I could have afforded one it would have been cassette.

I had my driver’s license for about a week. Doing about 50 mph down a dark country road one night and didn’t realize the road had a 90 degree right turn, drove straight off the road without even attempting to turn, cleared a 5 foot wide drainage ditch and ended up in a farmer’s field, didn’t really hurt the truck much, found my way out of the field and drove home. Damn near gave myself a heart attack that night.

1970 VW Beetle. Yellow with mud tires and an am radio that never worked.
It was the first of many many Volkswagens in my life.

77 Chevy pickup. 8 Track. It came with the greatest hits from CCR, Janis Joplin and John Denver. John Denver had a terrible accident on the highway. Tape everywhere!

To this day I still know all the words for any CCR or Joplin tune that was on those tapes.

I had a 65 Bug, it was lowered and had a nice paint job with the moon wheels and stuff. It was all stock, but then someone rear ended me and I was able to get it painted, lowered, new wheels, carpet kit, etc..... from their insurance. I scored.

My first truck was a 1990 chevy silverado 2500 with a 454 big block. Radio, cassette and crank windows
Then I jumped it off a T intersection on a foggy morning before school.

It was 1975, I sold my 1974 Suzuki TM125 in order to purchase my neighbor's 1965 Mustang. Six cylinder, three speed.
Air shocks, Craigers, paint(cinnamon brown), 8 track, glass pack exhaust and sold with in one year.

1968 Camaro RS, 327, 4 speed Hurst, paint(Ferrari red), L60 rear tires and sold with in one year.

1970 Camaro RS, auto, had motor built. 400 HP, trans rebuilt, paint (midnight blue), traction bars...my favorite ride.

1969 Beetle, transformed that into a baja
1979 Chevrolet 1/2 ton PU
1975 Corvette
1979 Camaro Z28
1975 Chevy 4WD 6" lift, noisy tires!
1983 Toyota 4WD
Several family cars, mini vans and the such...
1999 Camaro SS
2011 BMW 328i

More information then you all ever care to know, but there it is. Love my cars.

Now, if I had lotsa disposable cash, 2012 Camaro ZL1Woohoo Woohoo Woohoo

'66 Mustang 289/auto. Some lady had a reman. installed at my dad's shop and never paid the bill. I paid for the engine after dad got the title and he gave me the car. the trans gave up after I drove it about a week or so (had to drive the last mile or so home in reverse!). Overhauled the tranny, flared the fenders, put on a GT hood, repainted the car and my grandpa redid the upholstery for me for Christmas. Was a sweet ride.

I had an 8-track AND cassette because I was a badass!

My first car was an 81 Civic also but I think it was a 1300. Brown and it was a 4 speed. Thing would run forever on 8 bucks worth of gas and it was very tough.

First one was a 1976 Olds Custom Cruiser station wagon. That was a family car and it had am/fm/8 track stereo. This color too.

When I went away to college I couldn't have a car on campus the first 2 years, but when I did, it was the old 1972 Olds 98 LS. That was bad! Both Olds had 455 cid V8's, but the 1972 had no smog controls. It ripped, despite being in a giant car.
Like this one, but it was dark jade green with white vinyl top. I installed a Pioneer Supertuner am/fm/cassette in it.

Had that one about a year and it puked a radiator and more. Plus we had a gas crisis and 14.7 mpg highway wasn't cutting it. So I got a brand new 1978 Ford Fiesta S. Yellow like this.

Mine was a 57 Chevy pick up with an 8 track.
My Dad bought it for me when I was 15, we rebuilt the 283 and painted it competition orange.

85 Ranger "s" 5 speed. Bought it in 1999 from a Korean Vet that was declared legally blind. Had 4k original miles, looked like it just came from the dealer. Dad and I brought it home, put those deerprint Ford rims on it, a pioneer deck, and HD floormats, and I unfortunately drove it every where. I wish my dad really would have told me to stop driving it and stock it, it was gorgeous. Gun metal grey, not a scratch on it.

Cant beat the novelty of a your first 5 speed with no power steering. Sadly my little guys wont get to experience the feeling, but they will get put on the tallest hill in neutral with me halfway up! Best thing I ever learned was stick shift, I could drive (and that was the point) anything, everything, especially when friends were drinking.

I shared a '79 Ford Currier with my brother in high school. Tough truck. First car that was all mine was an '85 Chevy Sprint. 3-cylinders of raw speed. Going through Mission Valley on the 163 in San Diego, I had to be going 85 on the downhill so I would be doing 55 at the top of the other side. Great little car, though. Damn thing had the decency to die 2 days before I left for the Navy.

Drove my mom's 71 Chevelle Malibu 350 for a few months, then bought a 1968 Ram Air 3, 400ci Firebird. Sweet ride for a 16 year old! Tongue
