Took the wife to the hospital at 5:15 for aortic valve replacement surgery. Now have about 6 more hours of waiting until she's in recovery. Helpless times like this can really humble a guy..........

Surgery went really well, but it's taken longer than normal to come out of sedation. Doctor isn't overly worried, though, and said it could be another hour or two before the breathing tube comes out.
Actually some of the discussions on here about blood thinners made us do some extra research and decide on a tissue valve instead of a mechanical valve. The downsides of the blood thinners outweighed the positive of the mechanical valve never needing replacement!
You have been doing research! You both will get better sleep with the porcine valve. The mechanical ones take some getting used to, sound wise.
Hope she recovers quickly and you guys can get back to the orchard!
