I was told to take potassium supplements and It eliminated all arm pump within a month. That was years ago. Mabey it was all in my head. Placebo effect. Not sure. I have not taken those supplements for years and still no arm pump but I don't push as hard as I used too either.

I used to get arm pump almost a lap in. My cardiovascular fitness was really good so it didn't make any sense. Started strength training and it has helped a ton. I'm a tall lanky person and just wasn't strong enough for the bike.

Surgery. It saved Roncada's career but also ruined some rider's. I'm really surprised he is having so much trouble with this after it not being a problem when he won his championship.

What in the world is everyone talking about??? Arm pump comes from one thing..... holding on to the bars to tight. So fixing it is easy, LET UP ON YOUR GRIP WHILE IN THE AIR!!! I understand at times with MX because it is rough and not a lot of air time on some tracks but SX??? You are in the air ever few seconds. He needs to chill out and just ride the way he knows how.

I doubt its 100% due to grip. . .

I think that's the guy that called into the PulpMX show and yelled about Wilson's grip being too tight.... Then someone called in and said he was jerking it too much

you clearly have no clue to make a statement like that! arm pump has ALOT of different factors, from grip, to breathing right, cardiovascular fitness, body position, bike time, fatigue, tenseing up your muscles, not gripping with legs enough, too minor things like lever position, handlebar position and type, suspension set-up etc

I, as well, think it is over gripping. Relax. In addition to dirt bikes, I used to climb. Rocks, Ice, Mountains. The arm pump I used to get, holding on to a my ice axes a couple hundred feet off the ground was epic. Much more severe than the worse motocross arm pump. Then I learned to relax my grip. Not bash each placement.

Same thing happened when I was swinging a framing hammer. Tight grip trying to push the nail through a 2x gave me arm pump. Relaxed grip, flick the hammer and let the weight do the work.....no arm pump.

I am in the "relax your grip" camp.

And breathe.

My thought is he could ride the 350 for several rounds and get his confidence back. Hot sauce did pretty good last year on the 350.

He got it last year on his 250, if he doesn't find a solution soon he is going to become a mental basket case.

I hate to say it but I think he is a mental case already. DW is one bandwagon I can't seem to crawl on.

Fan of wilson
the guy did not have arm pump issues as a rookie, he did well. Did not have arm pump issues when he won his mx championship, no arm pump issues winning 250sx races. Hid current arm pump issues ALL MENTAL. Hope he figures it out soon, he will be up front when he does.

Might be he is getting arm pump because he had both shoulders done. I don't recall him having the problem before he had the shoulders fixed.

I never really thought about this, and not sure if I'd buy it, but there could very well be circulation issues due to surgery. But I'm thinking it's the mental issues more than anything. Like others have said and stated here, he did fine his first few years. then all of the sudden after jwr folds and he doesn't get the 450 ride he wanted and thought he deserved, and he starts getting beat by guys he should have smoked in the 250 class, then we start hearing about arm pump issues. im one of those that never could get on the DW bandwagon, and think this is more a mental issue he needs to overcome....finishing outside the top 15 on a full factory ktm under the watchful eye if decoster ain't gonna get er done....

The know it alls around here never cease to amaze me. All I have to say is nerve damage is no joke and only Dean, his dr's, and his team truly know what is going on. To act like you know better is ridiculous. Also he's proven he has the speed as his qualifying times are top notch!
