I read a really cryptic tweet from Dean Wilson today that I could've read as he was leaving Rockstar Husqvarna...or a myriad of other things. Sounded like he was bummed.

Is there any real word yet on whether Rockstar will run a 3-man team in 2019 or not? With Anderson signed until the end of the world, and Osbourne coming up into the 450 class...looks like Deano might get squeezed out.

I like Dean, but his results have been very average. Would not be surprised to see him get the boot.

If it’s the basis for your concern, perhaps you should consider including said “cryptic tweet” in your post?

Just a thought..

Would be a shame...He'll get a ride somewhere though, too good and too popular to be left sitting.
If he has to privateer it again and wait for a fill in ride, I'm sure he will..has that Scottish tenacity.
Hes still young and not done yet!
Go Delano!

That was news back first week of July.

My thought, Webb to KTM, Wilson or Bowers to Yamaha.

I'm sure the management at Yamaha really admire Dean, they helped him out a bit when he was down and I'm sure they were happy for him when he landed the Husky ride...
Seems to be a guy who just makes friends and never burns bridges....wish he had stronger knees!

I would say Wilson to Yamaha to team up with Barcia. Stamp it.

Also I can’t see Bowers going to Yamaha, he’ll do his own program again this year with bikes from Kawi and probably some help with parts from them. And wait to see if Joey or Eli get hurt and Kawi needs him for a fill in ride. Even today he was posting on Instagram testing on a Kawi.

OFF WEEK? (Steve Matthes)
Silly-season stuff is going on behind the scenes. I texted with an agent this week who told me he thinks that Yamaha is going to move Aaron Plessinger up to 450s full-time to be teammates with Justin Barcia. That's a bit of shocking news, I think. Aaron had been telling people that he was going to defend his #1 plate in 250SX and then wanted to ride the 450 in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross. Stay tuned on that.

I wish Dean the best finding a new home. He has a fun personality and wicked talent on two wheels, I'd like to see him land a spot on a top team for '19.

Protaper and Rockstar backing him in another privateer effort?

Kinda surprised Husky won't keep him around even with no salary.

Where are the webb to KTM rumors coming from? That could be badass if he teams up with that bike and Aldon as hes known for his disdain of training. The kid is a killer, I think the injuries lately have gotten into his head but he absolutely can win. Bogle won last year. Eli just got going really and hes been on a 450 for a long time, webb will get there. Where are these rumors from though?

It’s been floating around for nearly a year, KTM wanted him his first 450 go around and if you believe the latest, it’s already signed. Which is what I believe as of now. I also am going with Deano to Yamaha, not sure if anything is signed there though...

Just because the rider is free doesn’t mean the program is. J-Bone told me the costs of having a third 450 rider for just race, practice and test bikes, parts, shipping equipment, a mechanic. Plus travel for rider and mechanic...basically everything but the rider’s salary is upwards of 300k if needed budget for a full season.

I thought i've read somewhere that he could go to RockyMountain KTM. Any possibilities for that?

Yeah no kidding, still cheaper than another 100k wage tho, which Deano would piss in if the industry wasn’t battling or his knees weren’t so glassy. He’s probably worth a bet.

300k is indeed a big budget already but Deano is worth every penny of it. He is a solid top 5-7 riders !

With some big attrition each year, having a 3rd rider that doesn't cost of fortune should be the strategy to make sure they have at least 2 on the track. I would hope they could negotiate that a bit with the current team sponsors, since we also see some teams each year moving the semi and most employees for only 1 rider, and even sometimes a no show with 0 riders.

Anyway good luck to him wherever he rides for !

If the Plessinger rumor is true it appears that every factory team is full except JGR and possibly a 3rd KTM seat....the music is about to stop and there will be a few current factory riders still standing....

That team is full, they have Baggett and Bloss under contract.

But Rockstar Husqvarna already has SIX riders, two semis, all the associated mechanics, staff, and parts to deal with. That budget is already being spread over a lot...300K doesn't magically fall out of trees...

Right that’s really not much. A sprint car team will spend 500,000 to million to race 100+ races a season

Not at all. And to be quite honest, I’d advocate for Bowers over Deano. Deano is damaged goods and can’t stay healthy. Tyler is very Pieck like and will ride injuried and isn’t afraid to battle. Yamaha needs bikes on the track not Instagram stars. Give Bowers a full factory ride and some time on the bike and I think he will surprise a lot of people.

Cool stories guys. The money has to come from somewhere. F1 and sprint car teams aren't growing money. Doesn't matter the cost.
