I'm either buying the gaerne g-react boot or the alpinestars tech 7's. Which ones are more comfortable?

Yeah I think I'm getting them. The only reason i like the tech 7's is because they can come in a red/yellow color way. But I've tried on the sg10's, they are amazing but they are just out of my price range right now cuz I just bought new plastics, graphics and exhaust for my bike

I had a pair of the old style Tech 7s and decided to buy the new style Tech 7s when they came out like five years ago or so and have loved them. They are the most comfortable boot I have ever owned. In the five years I have had them I have replaced the sole once (it needs it again) but the overall boot is still really solid and still very stiff.

If you are used to a old style leather boot these boots will seem really stiff and will take a little getting use to but after that you will love them.

Also, motorcyclesuperstore.com sells a red/white pair of g-reacts and gaerne doesn't sell colored reacts this year. Can anyone answer that?

In my experience: Gaerne's tend to run wide in the foot and narrow in the heel. A-Stars run a little narrow overall and Fox boots are wide in the heel and narrow in the toe.

BTW...only you can determine which is more comfortable.

I have Gaerne G-reacts, nothing wrong with them, other than a little sqweeky. They r white and they have not yellowed at all (but i take really good care of them) From what i have been told Garene makes the best soles and Alpinestars soles wear pretty quick and the old ones have buckle problems. I got mine for $240.
On the internet it shows white boots with black straps. They actually come with white straps, do not know about the black boots.
if you want certain colors I just saw a thread where a guy painted his boots, they looked great.

I have owned both, and in my opinion, the G-React is far superior. They are stiffer, more durable, and have more features. The rubber on the inside is actually so grippy to start with, they take a bit getting used to. My first pair of Gaernes, and I'm a fan now. Even thinking about going Gaerne on my MTB shoes now because of the quality. I'm generally a price point purchaser, and the G-React is great value for the price.

I tried the sg10s on and they are very squeaky!

Thanks for a good answer chuckie.. I'm definitely going with the gaernes. I just gotta figure out how to get some color on them cuz I don't want just black

I ride 2013 model Tech 7's and love them, I bought a pair of react's a month ago and rode in them twice, They were ok boots, I just like the bonded sole of the A-stars compared to the traditional sole of the Gaerne's, I also rode this past weekend for about 10 minutes in my buddies 14 Tech 7's (all new model) and they were awesome, I will have a set in a few weeks !!!!

The new Alpinestar Tech-7s are amazing! the first thing i noticed was now much padding is inside and the 2nd thing was the fact that they're soooo light. They feel like they should be a $600 boot not a $300~. I got a set right away after I tried them on at my local shop. The toe box is really slim and shifts like butter, they're super comfy, i love them and i was always one of alpinestars biggest critics. They knocked these out of the park.

i cant say which is more comfortable, but I can say that A-stars are comfortable. The problem I have with A-stars is their horrible buckle designs. I have had 10 pairs of A-stars (mostly Tech 7's and a couple Tech 4's) over the last 15-16 years and not one pair didnt have buckle issues. a myriad of buckle troubles. lol. every damn pair of them. some wont latch, some wont stay latched, they break, they get stuck, they fall off, ect...

Switched to Sidi 3 years ago and have many times patted myself on the back for doing so.

Can't attest to the Gearnes. They seem good, but that's what someone who'd never had Tech-7's (and maybe even some that have) would say about Tech-7's.

You might add the new Sidi Agueda (or the possibly discontinued Charger) to your list of potentials. I'm not sure, but I think this is at a similar price point as the two other boots mentioned.

Alpinestars new buckles are on-par if not better then the sidis, the oldones were garbage. the plastic flexes on the sidis where the alpines are metal. I have a set of Crossfire 2s with like 10 hours on them, not a fan.

If A-stars fixed the buckles on the tech 7's I'd have absolutely ZERO complaints about them. Super Comfy, light weight, seem to wear very well (even the soul...but I'm a desert guy and not landing from massive jumps)...I haven't tried the Reacts, but if the buckles on the new tech 7's are better (like ktm212 says), then you can't go wrong with them.

+1 for the reacts ! I'm a size 12 and they run a tad big ( to wide ) . I put some inserts in them and that did the trick for me at least. good luck, if the local shop(s) have them try on both brands.

I liked the Reacts because I didn't feel like I had a heater in my boot like I did my SG10's. That's just me. I have heard some people say they have that problem too. I was also wearing them in the Texas summer heat too. I love the reacts. Best boot for your buck.

Edit: There's a few guys around here who paint their boots. Not sure what paint they use but it seems to hold up pretty good. Any info on this anyone? There's also some people who do boot graphics.

Keep you eyes open on CL and you'll find killer deals on boots. Most of the deals are ads where guy is selling bike and says free boots come with deal. Email them and ask what kind of boots they are, and since they're selling the bike, they'll practically give the boots away.

I wanted SG12's, but didn't have the bankroll, so first I found some barely used Tech-8's for $110, then I found these SG12's used 2-3 times for $50. Yep, $50!! Ended up selling the Tech-8's on ebay for a nice profit and ended up with $20 out of pocket for the boots I wanted.

Even though I like the color way of the tech 7's and maybe they have gotten better, but the local shops don't carry alpinestars and the mosites near me carries gaerne so I'd rather get them cuz I can try them on and really know what I'm getting rather than ordering online guessing

I have the tech 7s that don't have a hinge. They're nothing special but get the job done. I'm anxiously awaiting for my sg12s I just purchased.
