From Fullnoise:
Fresh from its historic 1-2 finish at Bathurst on the weekend, dominant V8 Supercar outfit TeamVodafone will add two more wheels to its lineup when it announces Multiple World Supercross and Australian Super X Champion Chad Reed as its newest member tomorrow.

Reed is a long-time supporter of the team and has been a guest in the garage at a number of events.

The nation’s leading dirt bike export has dominated the Supercross and more recently, outdoors motocross scene in the United States for close to a decade, as well as winning back to back Super X titles in Australia.

Returning home for the Super X opener at Newcastle this week, Reed will unveil a unique livery for his Honda CRF450cc race machine tomorrow in Sydney.

The livery borrows from the unique look of TeamVodafone’s Holden Commodore racecars and will stand out on track when Reed races in front of his home Newcastle Super X crowd for the first time. In addition, Reed’s riding gear has been custom-made to reflect the suits donned by drivers.

Reed will race under the TeamVodafone banner for the remainder of the year, and get the opportunity to further his passion for four wheels with tests aboard the team's Holden Commodore.

The last time he was behind the wheel of a TeamVodafone racecar was when the H-pattern gearbox was mandatory, and he is looking forward to the challenge of mastering the sequential shifter.

didnt Reed just buy a new house in the states? just because he may get a test drive in one of the vodafone commodores he would have zero chance of racing one.
he will be back in the states next year on something

The team announcement would have been earlier except Honda wanted more exposure with the team. I reckon its a one off publicity stunt that wont hang around long.

Big thing is RV wont be coming downunder.

The interesting part was that originally this sounded like a one race deal for Newcastle, but this PR makes it seem like it will be for the entire Super X championship.

Looks like 3 Super X titles for Reed on 3 different brands in a row.

Reed has had a good showing, but I would hardly say he has dominated sx, and most recently motocross for the last decade, he is great rider for sure, but to say he dominated is a bit far fetched.

anyone have his contact

Whatever he ends up doing here, it better be on a honda. If he has to switch brands again right before SX he won't be a contender. Everyone else is already testing for next year.

BTW what's going on with RV2? First he was a maybe for Pala and that was scratched, now no SuperX? He said he wanted to get some racing in before A1, anyone know if it was a team funding issue or something related to his leg maybe? Has he even been out testing yet?

how do you know he would have zero chance? I think a lot of people under estimate his driving ability. Guess we'll have to wait and see

SuperV8 racing is more competitive than a womb full of sperm. He has a snow balls chance in hell of gaining a one off drive let alone a full time gig.

Yes & no IMHO, he has had some very impressive tests at Queensland Raceway with a couple of top teams in the past few years & spends quite a bit of time in the V8 "culture" with teams & drivers here on the Gold Coast.

You would think that the NASCAR scene would be even tougher to crack in your 30's but RC is well on the way.

Wayne Gardner did it pretty well too with his Coke Holden team & with HRT.
