I bought a 19 YZ250F with a David Walls Racing engine in it. We sent it back for freshening. Well guess what, UPS has lost it. I put 3k worth of insurance on it but never thought this would actually happen, especially since should have only been a 1 night process.
We shipped it in a cooler that was screwed and gorilla taped like it had an organ in it!!
Anyone had any luck getting anything back from their "investigation?"

It was found and re-lost like three times over the course of six months. Ultimately, it was never returned to us...the insurance was a nightmare to deal with...and we ended up having to buy a crate engine to finish the bike.
Screw UPS...the amount of nightmares they gave me with my team was nearly unbearable. We gave up on shipping suspension and flew with it 95% of the time. If I could've flown with engines, I would've done that too.
FedEX was better. Not perfect...but I had much better luck for my own uses.
Good luck. I hope someone can answer with some good advice or direction.
I really hope you get a miracle and they find it or you get to deal with the one person in their claims department who isn't an asshole, good luck dude.
Good luck with the claim through insurance, hope they either find it or pay up the money asap.
The Shop
A tracking # was created when we shipped it, shows being picked up by the driver and dropped off at the station, and.... Vanished like a fart in the wind after that.
Overnight delivery and it disappeared when it got to the station.
Meaning it was tracked:
--Showed a label being created with correct delivery address, overnight delivery. UPS confirmed it was a valid tracking #
--Shows being picked up at our shop by the driver
-- Scanned into the station by the driver/station workers
UPS could not explain why it disappeared. We figured it was a inside job and it was gone.
Called UPS 48 hours after the delivery date when the package didn't arrive. The team had the tracking # and was calling UPS also. Since we shipped it we had to make the claim UPS said. We were told wait 2 weeks before we file a claim and wait and see if the package arrives. Nothing arrived after 2 weeks the claim process began. Claim submitted at week 3. 4th week out of the blue the package showed up to the team.
The funny thing is when the original package was lost, we reshipped another set of drive line hardware out a few days after it vanished. The 2nd package arrived overnight, on-time.
When talking to UPS it was like normal procedure for them to lose packages. We said small boxes understandable, but this was a big box. UPS could not explain why it vanished and why the tracking of the package did not register through the whole shipping process.
My suggestion is stay on top of it. Good luck, it's a pain in the back side. Hopefully is show up for you.
Work. Had no issues and was shipped there and back without drama. Boxed it up in a nice wooden crate and was shipped back in the same
Here's a direct number to UPS Claims Department. This will save you a half a day of bullshit and being transferred.

About 2 weeks ago a load balancer used in computer networking disappeared. List price of the 1 unit is $185,000. Thank god the mfg shipped it on their fedx account so they are on the hook.
Here's a direct email address to send your claim and any other requested documents.

It's been "repurposed".
All kidding aside...that sucks man, I hope they find it.
Pit Row
I remember growing up, you called the UPS or fedex branch it was delivered out of. When the driver got back, they asked them any inquiry you had. That was always the go to for them leaving it at the wrong house. They told you, you go to that house and get it. Easy. Gone are those days!!
I would avoid them at all costs until the negotiations are done.
On a side note, hell, if Amazon started shipping for hire it’d probably make the trip in a day. They expedite shipping so fast. Eh, it’s a thought
