I was about to post this, but was told many top suzuki riders haven't been informed. Amateur racing program dropped.

Apparantly, this decision was made last night.

I suppose they didn't see how it hurt HONDA a few years back.

AMATURE racing never should have recieved contingency money. They should all drop it and use it to hold or lower bike prices.

Dropping the money for Pro's (AMA SX/MX/AX) also does not matter. When Honda dropped it they sold more bikes and more privateers raced honda's. But then again that is Honda. The gay suzuki rider is upset. He went and got shitfaced. Maybe he should have gone drinking instead.

How can all those people that work for the Automakers Union think that they have a retirement get absolutely nothing? Shit happens!

I thought it was more that Honda just dropped many of their riders...

I bet there is a clause (in very small print) that states subject to change. They do have a fleet of lawyers on staff.

Kawi has not announced theirs for next year yet. Everybody not riding blue next year may be getting the Bologna pony.

Yeah, except Suzuki has nothing in common with an American auto company in this context.

I would say that blows. I'll check with the local series reps.

They've pretty much bailed completely on Road Racing. Even Team Jordan.

Word is Suzuki dropped their entire Amateur Program as well. Honda pretty much did the same thing, with only 4 riders remaining on their rooster.

I heard this was being discussed within Suzuki a few weeks ago. It's unfortunate, but likely needed for them to survive. They've also made other internal changes with pay-roll adjustments and layoffs throughout the last several months.

this leaves an open door for new corporate based teams. JGR amateur program? Value added to sponsors and at low level sponsorship a company can gain lots of revenue.

That is terrible news about the suzuki contingency. Contingency helps to support struggling amateur racers and without it, getting to the races will be even tougher for less fortunate riders.

Yamaha actually pays the Ultra and Mega better, especially the pro classes
