hey, just wondering if there are any motocross racers out there that use twitter.com. It is essentially a "microblog" where you post in 140 characters what you are doing. It is really popular in the whole "internet/geek" crowd, and I was just wondering if there were any motocross riders out there that used the service. You can friend my up...

mike868y Started a new thread Are the nationals dead?

1/26/2012 12:22pm
Hey everyone, I am working on a blog post for my motocross/cycling blog (www.mikemartinracing.com) on the topic of the current decline of the outdoor nationals. It seems as if each year more are more riders are choosing Supercross only contracts. And truthfully, I do not believe the riders are to blame for this trend. The Supercross series is much more...

mike868y Started a new thread Suzuki's aluminum gas tank?

1/26/2012 9:30am
Hey guys, just wondering what the theory behind Suzuki's aluminum gas tank is? Is it just to look cool or is there a legit technological advantage given by the metal gas tank? It seems very old fashioned, and it seems as if they may have a lot of trouble with denting.

He may not always be the fastest or the most aggressive, but wow, he one of, if not the nicest guy on the AMA tour. Always polite, respectful and down to earth. Never heard him badmouth anyone. He is a great guy and a great ambassador for the sport. Lawrence on the other hand... jk, jk

mike868y Added a reply to Carbon Wheels for MX??

Ya but for the cost and lack of durability that carbon wheels will have in an mx setting, it will almost certainly not be worth it.

Too stiff and too expensive. In addition, the performance gains would be minimal. In road bikes, because the bike is so light and directly powered by your pedaling, that weight gains under a pound are noticeable. On a motocross bike, this just isn't true. I have a feeling we'll be sticking to alloy wheels for the near future....

I've always been a huge fan of Pro Circuit systems, but there are a ton of really nice options out there. FMF is great as it DRD and White Bros. IMO, it is all about personal preference.

While I'm sure there is some biase there, the thing is they are controlled by the viewers and I hate to break it to you, but most mainstream viewers want to see stewart and could give a damn about Reed.
How well were the tests done? Which guidelines did they follow? I know in cycling, for a long time a lot of riders were able to trick the drug tests. Just saying they passed, doesn't necessarily mean they did. I would like some more information about the test before I have 100% faith in the results.

On the moto front, I see two strokes continuing as a budget bike for those who have been hit hard by the economic crisis. Fast, easy to work on, and proven to be reliable. A perfect choice for the poor rider/racer.
