Never before - in the (very recent) history of motocross, has a rider had the audacity

to make such a unique and damning statement as he did - at the start of moto-two

at Mount Morris. The track , she was rough, the ruts were punishing and there was

nobody (250 or 450) thinking about performing the Carmichael'ian task - of

launching that tunnel - jump. I'm pretty sure it had been ruled out since the days of

the number 4. He didn't NEED to do it. But he did. And that's the kind of schnizzle

that makes these legendary moments - in our fantastic sport - so dangerously

colorful - and unforgettable. We were anticipating Bubba to fill that enormous void

in our sport, when Ricky left motocross and took a BIG chunk of it with him -

but it has been this wild-eyed Frenchman with the crafty dance - moves - that has

gotten our attention. Rock on #377 - and thanks for busting that out.

Pourcel could be The One! Dungey leading 450 outdoors and last year Pourcel was right there AND might have won that title if it were not for the bike failure. Next year will be even better than this year and this year is pretty dang good.

He is ONE amazing rider and I think every other rider out there sees it, too! No matter WHO is racing in the next couple of years (even certain tv celebs who might come back from injury), will have anything for him once he gets used to the 450. It may be a new era in MX.

My memory may mistake me (as it often does), but wasn't K-dub the first to huck that jump back in the day?

Uh, he hucked it during the race as well. And I would think EVERYONE behind him needed every second they could gain so they had even more motivation to go for it..... Yet, nobody did. Give the guy props, it took balls and skills that NOBODY else had this weekend to do this consistently. I think Tomac did it once and one other person but never went for it again.

I give him his props... he is an awesome rider, but to say that nobody will have anything for him 2 years down the road including JBS is just a little to crystal ballish for me to swallow (and everyone behind him was in traffic)

impressive indeed. another observation was the ballsy camera dude that casually strolled up and down the "staircase" section repeatedly turning his back to the race bikes as they flew past just a couple of feet from him. The old saying "you can judge a man by the size of his camera" was never more true! That section was gnarly looking even from behind the fence.

In a sport that's just as mental as it is physical, I consider moves like that the "Psy-Ops of motocross." http://en.wikipedia.org/...sychological_warfare

What he did on that jump head in front of all his 250f class to see, head f**ked the rest of his competition into realizing he is on a totally different level. Of course most of them probably knew it deep down inside, but tried to ignore it. However, you can't ignore it any longer when someone launches a jump like that right in front of your face.

I thought it was very cool he did that jump. He gets big props from me for doing it on a 250f.

However, if I recall correctly, RC made the jump while in pursuit and made a pass stick as a result. Is my memory fogged? That pulls bigger props. But only slightly.
