Pauls.

I heard talk of him being able to challenge Herlings once he moves up. I know he was probably disappointed he lost the title this year but hopefully him, Febvre, and Gajser can challenge Herlings. I think Tony will always be a threat so long as he chooses to race too.

I think the only thing stopping Herlings from dominating for the foreseeable future is injury. That’s the only hope his competition has.

They already have two, third would be the question. Looks like another factory seat lost at this point.

Ofcourse third rider, I meant a second rider because there are 2 first riders Smile
Suprising KTM will drop one 450 rider, I assumed they had (one of) the biggest budgets in the field...

Man this is suprising for me, I did not expect him to move to Husky, i thought for sure he was going to be Jeffrey's teammate on the 450 since Glenns gone. wow

Actually not really surprising. With the 2 riders they currently have they're almost sure of the title and they can use the money they would normally spend on the 3rd rider for their MotoGP effort now. Because in MotoGP they still need tons of development before they will be one of the front runners.

I think prado will be the one to take it to herlings in a few years. The kid is fearless with super talent, until then its herlings world.

I think this is a great sign for husky personally. I think Pauls is underrated. I wouldn’t say he’s going to challenge herlings or tony, but I could see him on the box a time or two, as long as he stays healthy.

I've heard that Rene Hoffer has a 250 ride on the factory team for next year as a rookie? We have an insanely talented mechanic here in aus that was working for our factory KTM desert team and he is heading over to Austria to work with the Factory GP team, although he didn't tell me who he is wrenching for. That would be my guess as to who would take the other 250 spot on the team possibly?

At age 21 for 450? In 250 class he would fight for title, but in 450? Top 10, maybe top 5. Challenging Herlings? Good joke.

True, a 3rd rider would be a fill-up and a long term project.
I don't follow MotoGP at all, but it makes sense if you put it like this.
Thanks for the info!

Unless he goes to america first. If Prado wins the mx2 world title next year then he will be forced to move up and he'll only be 18 years old. If he gets forced to move up, id bet money that Decoster get him over here on the factory team on a 250 and not on TLD KTM even though thats their 250 team. When Decoster was at suzuki he said that he was trying to get Roczen over here and suzuki wanted to put him on Hewitt suzuki 250 program, but he said a talent and rider of that caliber needs to go to a factory team, not a satellite one. I think that would entice Prado and his family enough to get him over here. Him being forced to move up, and him signing a multi year deal to be on the factory team.

I heard a strong rumour that it will be Tom Vialle next to Prado in MX2 in 2019

Cairoli is likely retiring after next season or the one after that.

That would mean it takes 1 injury to Herlings to have the championship wide open.

There will be a couple of riders capable of winning the title in that situation, like Gajser and Febvre.
Desalle and Paulin are in that group as well, but are either getting at the end of the road (Desalle is 29) or simply an enigma (Paulin).
I can see Jonass (and Seewer) getting into that group of riders as well.

It will be interesting to see if Gajser can step up to JH/TC's level when he is injury free for a full season. Other then Gajser i don't see anyone challenging Herlings. Looking at MX2 the only obvious possibility is Prado, but that we will have to see.
