It's July 3rd and all day long I couldn't stop thinking about Marty. 4th of July was one of his favorite holidays and he always had a party and they were always dangerous as fuck! It was dangerous to be around Marty in general, because he was crazy and he was a prankster, but 4th of July he loved to blow shit up!

I made a tribute video to my old friend. I hope you guys like it, and keep in mind that I'm no photo/video guy. As if you can't tell...

https://youtu.be/bXZnFYcDplk

Obviously i have no clue how to embed this shit, but the link should work!

That was very well done. Back when I was a young lad 1979ish there was a race coming up at Anaheim Stadium and my dad figured there might be some pro's practicing at Saddleback the Friday before. He writes me a sick note for school and off we go. We get to Saddleback and Moates and Croft are there riding the main track. Great! let's go ride with those guys! OK I didn't ride "with" those guys as I was a 100cc beginner at the time but it sure was fun to be passed by them. It was frikin awesome. Again well done.

Steve,
That's the best thing that's been posted on VitalMX this year. It just cuts through all the petty controversy, GP vs AMA, Mr Info's vendetta against DC crap etc, etc and get's right to the point of why we love Motocross and more so the many friends we have and how we cherish's our fallen heroes!
it was a great honour to be part of Marty's film premiere at Spreckels Theatre, to create 2 paintings that were auctioned off and raised many thousands of dollars to help adaptive athletes in San Diego area.
I'll post up pics when I get time.

Now go have a great 4th July my americans friends, blow things up, party hard and raise a glass to Marty, Magoo, Rich, Jimmy, Bob Harris etc and all our moto mates who are sure to be raising hell up there in heaven!Smile

Nice video, what a legend.

Love the shot of him riding the Harley(?) with the dog sitting on the tank.

Steve, that was a touching tribute, made for some sadness as well but you're a blessed man to have had a friend like that indeed. I too shall raise a toast and send a bottle rocket skyward for Marty and Bimbo tonight

Good job Steve! Can you imagine what shape heaven is in with Marty, Jim, Richard & Magoo playing practical jokes and tearing it with fresh knobbies?

Honestly, that is one of the coolest "tribute" videos I have ever had the pleasure to view.

Never met Marty, only knew him by way of pictures and stories through the motorcycle media.

I got a sense, through viewing those awesome photographs in the video that I now have a more accurate picture of who Marty was as a regular dude, not just the "rock star" moto head that had been presented to me in the moto media.

Cool to see all the other moto celebrities hangin' with Marty too.

Sorry you can't spend the day blowing up shit with Marty this July 4th.

Thank you for posting the video.

That ONE DAY at Carlsbad.

He reminded us what "Privateer" meant.

Great tribute, Steve. Thanks for introducing me to Marty at Primm that year. Very easy guy to enjoy talking moto with, and genuinely interested in others stories as much if not more than his own. It was one of the great privileges to listen to him share what the win meant to him and his dad.

Steve, that was very cool and an awesome tribute to a MX Legend! Thank you!!

Here is my 110 Instamatic photo that I took during the 1908 USGP, Moto 2 finish making MX history! That was my first trip to the USGP! I even got to talk to Marty in the pits after the race! Way cool for an 18 year old kid!

Thanks for using it in your tribute!

Here's a couple more from that day!

I need to scan all my old photos.....
