I've been to a few other forums that had an ignore option that would block comments from other posters. Is it possible to upgrade this place with that because I'll be damned if not ready to avoid this place altogether if I have to always be looking at a few people that have the only correct opinions on everything.

Don't get me wrong, I've made it here 10yrs scrolling past stuff I don't want to engage in, but lately.... SMDH!
Poll

Should we be able to block members we don't want to hear from?

Ufff... Tough choice in the poll tbh.

The "report" button was already suggested in "About Vital" section but nothing changed.... so far.

My thoughts are.... just ignore them yourself. That's what I've always done.

Personally, I think the thumbs down feature should be removed or at least be made transparent.... right now, it's a chickenshit feature.

I seem to remember a poll about thumbs. As I recall, the op got a few downvotes, haha,,

I just down voted you because grown men that can't control their emotions kinda irritate me.

Exactly...

Respectful and constructive criticism is good for everyone.

Too bad many seem to enjoy "destructive" criticism.... those who fit the term "poo flinging monkeys".

Vital will never implement any policy/option that has the possibility of decreasing time spent onsite, which is directly connected to advertisement revenue.

It seems you believe your opinion to be the correct one.

All the people who need an ignore feature need to just go to their safe space. Bigots. <3 u tho slippy Smile

safe space
noun
a place or environment in which a person or category of people can feel confident that they will not be exposed to discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm.
"school must be a safe space for LGBT students"

big·ot
/ˈbiɡət/
noun
a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.
"don't let a few small-minded bigots destroy the good image of the city"

I’m no boomer, but I definitely enjoying getting in a nice box on occasion. Feel like a lot of dudes on vital could benefit from doing the same.

Yeah, I can see it. I have to see everyone's posts, including the ones I'd prefer to ignore. Wink

As far as adding it as a feature? It's something to consider, but there is always a long list of development projects, which my boss prioritizes. All site development projects are weighted with how they affect the overall platform. What might seem important to one site (like ours, which has a lot of forum traffic) might not be so important for Vital MTB, or Vital BMX.

I am particularly fond of the “ok boomer” being thrown around at mostly Gen X’ers 🤦‍♂️

I usually respond with a “ok Moran” but, then no one gets that either so then it just leads to awkward silence and staring back And forth with each other.

The junk threads get cleaned up usually pretty quick.

I don’t think it’s good to create your own personal echo chambers.

Back in the old days on Motodrive, there was a word replace feature, where you could replace just about anything with another word or phrase.

If it was still available, I'd likely replace "okay boomer" with "Yum, boogers," or something equally classy. You know, just to amuse myself.
