The DMC minis were ahead of their time in the 80's
I thought it was an april's fool but it looks like a top 5 supermini of all time and currently the fastest one !
I tend to agree with them, as does Honda.
From a technology/boredom point of view it's cool as hell.
With that said, however, I just saw these and these is pretty sick.

Your maintenance costs will be much less and you can replace the top end blindfolded.
Was just thinking on Tuesday while driving what a step back for the sport the CRF150 was for mom and dads race budgets. If you can afford the excellent race lease program they have in Europe this the way to go but for the non high income folks we need to keep in and attract to the sport two strokes are better.
This isn't a two stroke bs four stroke tired rehash as it is an awareness of the obstacles our sport faces bringing people to the sport and equally important keeping them in the sport.
It's always about the $ or at least starts with the $ then next is having a sensible track to ride on. Sounds easy but in 2016 good luck.
In fact, the DMC super mini's were rumored to be around 115 pounds dry. That's a huge advantage on the track.
And above someone posted they were a bit lacking in top end while turning 15,000 RPMs.. Imagine a 150 2 stroke in Mini Frame.
And most 12 year olds can do a 2 stroke top end. Hell, some know how to split cases and do it all by 12 on a 2 stroke.
Suppose you work for a race team that very successfully grooms young amateur riders and wants them to be competitive against bikes with more recent development $$$$ and time. Yeah everyone knows they are heavy and everything else, but that is what your team rides so why not do something because you can? And because it also is fun and interesting and changes the day to day grind for these guys and pushes the limit of what they can achieve?
As for the DMC comparison, that's very disrespectful to all involved IMO and also lacking on what you know that is on the inside and where you haven't been shown in the pics and video. It's also has to do with probably knowing yourself a lot more technically and not being wowed by so much as when you were younger. There's quite a bit more going on like every race bike that makes a demo, that your just not going to be able to see.
I'm surprised how passionate some people are on the issue, even thought the have no experience on the bike.
