Anyone catch AJ Catanzaro's latest YT vlog? Feld says no more filming any riding on the track other than a total of 45 seconds of GoPro footage.

I posted too soon. Later in the video they explained that it's coming from NBC. Stupid any way you look at it though.

It’s like they don’t want anyone to be able to make any money other than the factory guys. Weird, you would think they would be happy to get more eyes on their product and grow the sport??

It seems to me that this is a very short sighted view of things from NBCs side. People like AJ would be a hell of a lot more likely to bring more views and eyeballs to their broadcasts and reviews on YouTube allowing them to film than not. All of these Vlogs are released well after the race is over, it really makes no damn sense.

It's pretty nuts how many restrictions there are on teams and riders without getting much back from the promoters and the broadcasters. Only GoPros, no selling merch, restrictions on vlogs and the list could probably be made longer. What do they get back that make it a fair deal for all parties involved? Not much.

In a situation like this, everyone is a loser. The fans, the rider, the team, the sponsors.

Kinda reminds me of how the Glen Helen National isn’t happening anymore because people got their feelings hurt. Now the best track in so cal next to the biggest population of mx riders in the world doesn’t have a race. Boggles the mind.

It wouldn’t change any viewership. No one is tuning in to watch places 13-20. By the end none of those positions are even on the lead lap. Are they quality riders? Absolutely. But let’s be real. The last five positions on the gate are filler only. The argument that privateers are the heart of the show somehow and without privateers then there is no show at all is almost laughable now. I may have agreed with that 20 years ago but the sport of SX has changed quite a bit with regard to that.

I’ll be honest if there was a main of 12 riders I would still watch but I wouldn’t be paying for a premium service like I do now.
I pay so I can watch quali both heats and lcq too. To me that’s just as good as the main, I have my favourite privateers and I love watching them, how they’re doing and rooting for them to get into the main.
Then if they get in I like keeping an eye on the board to see where there at.
I don’t have a favourite in the top 10 anymore so I’m happy whoever gets what position up there, I just like to watch good racing and/or an underdog break into the top 15.

i was thinking this year he might have been better off being on the 250 this year. Or is he just using the 450 to warm up for the West series?? i don't follow him on any social media (or anyone for that matter).

Agree and disagree. Remember the comment he made on someones IG and all the big dogs were bagging him? His attitude is a bit off putting. He has good insight, but acts like he is a top dog when he is mid pack in the LCQs at best. The guy needs a dose of reality. Before you bash me, I have made the same amount of mains this year as he has, and no I have no qualified for the night show. I also am not on Youtube and IG acting like I am a factory rider. He is not making a ton of money off of views on Youtube, but I do like how he is showing the other side of it. His attitude and cockiness is just cringeworthy.
