According to there Facebook page they are "Permanently Closed."
My cousin ran that track for about 10 years and the previous owner Ian, did a remarkable job expanding the entire facility. Makes me sad to hear, it was one of the best tracks in Texas with def the best dirt.
Good memories!!!

Was Ian still running it up till now?
The Shop
I've been trying to get there the last two winters we spent time in Texas.
Lake Whitney, Mosier Valley, and Cycle Ranch were supposed to be here till the end of time!!!
MX Sports does a great job with the LL series obviously but there are quite a few tracks out there that aren't part of the LL series and never will be.
Regardless of AMA or no AMA or NMA or no NMA we cannot keep losing tracks.
Then you simply could not figure out if they were open. The hotline, their FB page, their website, all were incredibly vague. Since it's a 2 hour drive I wasn't going to risk it. So I just quit going.
Last thing I heard just a few weeks ago was that an ex national Pro said the track was getting too dangerous. But I don't know.
I'm bummed the track is now closed. I'm bummed the communication was so piss poor. I'm bummed the owner didn't make tons of money. And now we have one less track. I suspect that someone will buy it up and reopen the property. Let's hope!
That said, I know that there are a lot of hurdles to jump for any track to be awarded a national and most all come with $$$ attached.
That sucks, when we lost Lake Whitney, that a a bad blow. Used to have to double gate races in so many classes because it pulled racers from several states away. Also when it got rough, it was probably one to the toughest tracks in the state.
Losing an MX track sucks, but losing the iconic Texas tracks is just plain terrible. I hope new ownership can happen.
Owner is what drove this into the ground by trying to build a "lifestyle" park. It was a great vision but horrible execution. One of my riding buddies brought up how Murphy's MX is growing steady. That place is nice but its no Cycle Ranch. People go ride there because they know when the place is open. Murphy's website has three lines of info.Location, Phone number and when its open. Seems to work pretty well!
Kawasa84 I'm pretty sure they already had the Cycle Ranch round of that series you are talking about. Most of us had no idea it even happened including myself. Did I mention the marketing job they were doing was the downfall? :-)
Pit Row
The owner steadily chased away his customers with price increases. The track was prepped wrong IMO. So deep if you let off the throttle you stop until after a few hours of packing it down.
Memberships, raised gate fees and a bad attitude. I hear he just bought the Drag strip.
The location doesn't help. Not enough entrances or Helipad to get a National. It is for sale.
So you are saying, that if I want to open a track, using my funds for the property, equipment, and operaton, that some outside entity should be able to tell me how to run it? I'll bet neckbraces and chest protection would be mandatory too, at MY track, right?
Your rabid desire for rules and regulations being placed on everything is borderline frightening. You've got to be the biggest Socialist on this site, bordering on Nazi-ism. Give it a rest. If no one else will say it, I will. There's definitely a pattern.
The track is for sale if any of you folks wants to open it back up.
All the track property buildings and vehicles as well as the house that is on the location.
