Any suggestions on some new rubber? Dunlop, Bridgestone, or Maxxis? Which has the best intermediate hook up? Front and back.

not a fan of the 403 or the mx51 front. thats just my opinion though, everyone likes something different. faster riders might not be bothered by those tires but for me (maybe its my speed?) they feel like like they're rolling over or something.

i do like the 404, mh3, mx51 rears. my favorite INT front is the mh3. YMMV.

My brother has the 403/404 on his RMZ450... Having been on DOT approved enduro Pirelli X scorpions I couldn't believe how well they stuck... but they were also exe/hard to find in Sydney this week...

So... I just put new MX51's front and rear, let ya know how they are after the weekend! Woot!!

I had a dunlop 756 once upon a time that I felt the same, turns out I had ripped a bunch of the side knobbies and continued with the moto haha... lean lean and giveway!

Another for 403/404 combo. All I run.

I had been using Pirelli for a while and tried some Bridgestone 403/404 and I prefer the Bridgestone's. They are more expensive (well here at least) but they also seem to last a while.

Agreed, the 403 front tire is the best on the market in my opinion. The 203 is good too if you ride in a lot of soft dirt. Rears dont really matter to me. I have become a big fan of the Maxxis IT (there intermediete tire) for the rear. They are durable as hell and work just as good as anything else.

Yep, Pirelli MX32 mid-soft front and rear, or Pirelli Extra X rear, great combo.

Pirelli MX32 mid soft front works great in all conditions. the Extra X is also a great all round tire for the rear. the mid soft 32 rear is better but you won't get near the life you will out of the Extra.

I remember in the 2010 250f shootout the Yamaha came with a 403A front tire. I have a 2010 KX250f that has a 403. They said the 403A had better traction. I have looked everywhere online for a 403A but cannot find it anywhere. I don't believe you can buy this tire. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I've used the Pirelli MT32/MXMS for 30+ years. When something new comes out from someone else I try it and always go back to that tire.

I've actually been running a Bridgestone M59 on the front for years. I know it's a soft terrain tire, (I never seem to have any soft terrain) but it seems to work very very well. It's been KTM's stock tire in the front for many years.

Kenda Washougal or Maxxis IT in the rear. Dunlops or Bridgestones seem to give slightly better initial traction, but they fall off fast.

I like to run a 203/204 unless it is hardpack. They bite better than anything. previously a 403/404 fan.

The 403A was built specifically for yamaha. Tire manufacturers build tires specifically for bike manufacturers from time to time. 9 out of 10 times it the same as a the retail tire, and the only difference is a slight weight reduction so that the bike manufacturer can obtain a target weight to advertise. There isn't any signifigant performance advantage between the two tires. In theory if the tire is lighter, the bike would have a little bit of a more nimble feel at speed, however the weight difference is generally too insignificant to notice.

To sum it up, it is the same tire, same performence, just insignificantly lighter, and ungodly expensive if you tried to purchase it from the dealer.

It depends alot on how fast you ride and how hard you push through the corners but I personally have had alot of luck with running the Pirelli Scorpion MX Hard 486 Rear and Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Hard Front combo in intermediate conditions. They both wear really well and especially in sun-baked / hard-packed conditions. The rear obviously is good on the hard pack but actually performs really well in softer conditions as well. Bridgestones are great for traction as well but I feel as if they don't last as long during those dry summers and harder conditions.
