Honda is releasing a limited edition CRF450R. I was able to get a few pics of the bike at the CRF Collective event. Price is $11,499 and it’s available in August.

CRF450RWE Key Features:

• Unique cylinder head with factory hand-polished ports improves torque feeling from low- to midrange, especially between 5,000 and 6,000 rpm, for even quicker lap times

• Yoshimura slip-on muffler with titanium body and pipes, plus carbon fiber tail caps, exclusively designed for the CRF450RWE

• ECU settings optimize performance advantages of the Yoshimura exhaust and cylinder-head updates • HRC launch control with special settings influenced by Ken Roczen

• Kashima fork-tube coating reduces friction and improves handling performance. Developed by Miyaki Company of Japan, Kashima coating is a special treatment for hard-anodized finishes that fills the micro-pores on the surface of hardanodized aluminum for better lubrication and reduced stiction

• Titanium nitride coating on fork legs enhances suspension feel

• Shock shaft processed with Super Finisher and coated with titanium nitride for superior performance • Stronger D.I.D LT-X black rims with special laser-engraved logo • High-performance gold RK chain

• Throttle Jockey factory Team Honda HRC graphics and seat cover for premium look and enhanced grip during acceleration

• Top and bottom triple clamps in black complement high-end look

i am wondering if honda is using this platform to do what KTM does and get their latest bike into SX and outdoors prior to an actual new model release so that their riders have the latest and greatest (and give consumers the latest and greatest)... or is it just just a bling'd out version of their current model released at the same time/mid year?

Good move by Honda over all in my opinion. I don't see them having any troubles moving the bikes.

My bad. Just watched it again and it was just the way it was filmed that made it look like that

Honda can't be too dumb; they look at their market share and probably realize they are losing out on a large chunk of dual sport and emerging adventure market.

I'm not sure how limited runs of $12k moto bikes fit in the grand scheme of things, but it allows Honda to be like KTM and realize either a) early models updates and b) revised changes for racing purposes.

For that much money you would think Honda would put their hydraulic clutch on the bike that the team uses.

Maybe I'm old fashioned or just dumb but I like my $6500 KX450s. I have a mint set of CV spring forks that I slap on every new bike I buy and that makes an awesome motorcycle for not much money. I'm sure these FE/RE/WE bikes are amazing but are they $5000 better to an average 40B rider like myself? Maybe one day I'll buy one and be able to answer that question.

That being said, they certainly have a market and should do really well.

Bro, it’s all about having the sickest bike on the line in the vet class.

exactly- my FC450 is slightly better than my old trusty RMZ450, but at nearly twice the cost, there is no way the FC450 is twice as good! the RMZ and KXF are massively better value than anything out there, and neither of those bikes are holding anyone back.

I am actually embarrassed that i spent so much so on a dirt bike to go ride open practice LOL!

Yeah, what was I thinking? I need to get my deposit down on one of these ASAP. Kashima coatings and anodized clamps are the final pieces to the puzzle. Once I have those, there will be no stopping me. Laughing

Oh boy! You're gonna rile a few people up with that post. HAHAHAHA. But I agree 100%. Look, if someone wants to spend a ton of money on one of these, God bless them. I'll never second guess what someone does with their own cash and I'll never say it was a waste. Life is about doing what you want to do. It's just not something I've ever put a ton of consideration into doing. I'm not very good at this sport and what I'm riding has never played a big roll in that LOL.

Let’s talk about Honda following KTM’s business model.

Made for the same guys who bought Service Honda/Kawasaki 500's. I'd still like a Service Kx 500af even though I know I'd be better (which isn't very good) on a Sx150.

If Chad Reed can qualify for a supercross Main on production based suspension, it's good enough for me. That bike does look badass though. I wouldn't mind one in my garage.
