6/3/2025 1:11pm I had ATT last year at the National and it is definitely spotty at the track. Highly variable depending where, exactly, on the hill you are standing. Lots of people having similar experience. It was actually kind of surprising they didn’t bring in one of those mobile event cell truck setups.

6/3/2025 1:08pm Phone will be great. TV is basically at the intersection of 2 major highways and close to Denver, plenty of cell coverage. Small stool/chair is ok if you hike up the hill, planning on staying around the VIP area, probably not needed. The websites always say no coolers allowed but usually the folks running the gates don’t care. Empty one(or more) of ensures and fill it with your favorite tasty mixer that goes well with the free sodas in the VIP tent. 😉

6/2/2025 2:00pm I've only been to the Thunder Valley national once (last year). Going again this year. I vaguely remember cell coverage being spotty on Verizon. Maybe able to get a text out, but little or no data. We brought in folding chairs and soft cooler with food and drinks. They will search your cooler and won't let you bring alcohol in.

6/2/2025 6:47am I'm ready for the races this weekend and need a few tidbits of info to finalize my plans. 1- How is cell phone service in and around the track? I have ATT wireless service here in Mississippi and hopefully it works in Lakewood, Denver, Boulder, and Central City areas. Whatcha think?? 2- I want to bring a small lightweight folding...

5/1/2025 2:44pm ^This, about the hydration. It is dry AND at elevation, so your sweat, a lot of it, evaporates quickly.

5/1/2025 2:43pm The track is right off of of the highway (c470) so it's not too bad getting there, for general parking they have you park in the field south of the track and then either walk up the road or catch a school bus to the track proper. It's a trek but some of the best spectator areas are up on the hill, just past the TVMX sign or on the large left hander coming into the downhill. Just keep in mind the sun and altitude can be a brutal combo; the whole track has hardly any shade so bring some...

5/1/2025 2:43pm Water and umbrella is a must have at TV. As posted above, the highest point on the hill is the best viewing. 2 years ago, Tomac took a banzai run at Roczen for 4 consecutive laps on the little downhill there and we had nearly front row seats.

5/1/2025 2:43pm Was it sick when they ran it at night in 2008? Such a cool concept that they never did again, but I always thought that was cool. Imagine red bud or budds Creek at night, probably a cool crisp 70°, that was just my favorite time to ride was always during the night practices

5/1/2025 2:43pm Thunder Valley is fun. You'll park SE of track in pasture. There will be swindlers trying to tell you where to park. They will also try and tell you its 20 bucks to park but they can fuck off cause its free parking. You can either walk a long god damn way up the hill or take the party bus up to track. Regardless Thunder Valley is a great track.

5/1/2025 2:43pm Been there a couple times, inward traffic was not congested, but we always arrive around 10 to watch a little practice and walk around the pits. Traffic out not too bad either, but definitely worse than in. Hot tip: Each person bring a small cooler with water, the lines for water there were criminal both times we went. My brother passed out in line waiting for water for over 45 minutes. Missed a whole moto standing in line. Haven't been back since, that was 3, maybe 4 years ago. Hopefully it's better now.

5/1/2025 2:43pm Double up on whomever said 45-60 minutes if you get there around noon. Also, double up on bring water in small coolers. The interweb usually says coolers aren’t allowed but the minimum wage gate folks don’t care. Sunscreen is also a must, absolutely no shade at TV, not a single tree. Denver is a dry climate and folks from more humid climates don’t realize how dehydrated they are because the sweat dries quickly. If it’s 75+ you need to drink a lot of water. Big Head Todd and the Monsters play Red Rocks Amphitheater Saturday and Sunday night, right down...

4/30/2025 5:39pm I sure hope you get to spend a least a few minutes outside of Denver on your trip! Even if it's just a drive over Lookout Mountain... Up the hill at Thunder Valley is excellent for viewing, but I personally like to hang out inside the track. I think it really depends on what you want to do during the races. If you want to find a spot and camp out there for the day, up the mountain is probably best, but it sounds like you want to be a little more mobile - and the middle of the track...

4/29/2025 5:42pm That's all good info and I appreciate it. I'm flying into Denver Friday night, probably staying there or Lakewood, but either way I'm wondering about the expected time to get into the track Saturday morning. Is there a good flow from the interstate to the parking area and entrance gates? Is it 2 lane and backed up with traffic on...

4/29/2025 5:36pm Hey twodogs, I like to go with Silver VIP. Very close parking, walk across the street to the pits/track. Vary easy traffic in and out, due to north entrance to Golden vs south E470. All day pit pass is key to a true fan. Walking around the track/pits is the way to go. I have attended since 2005, and I do this every year. Good Luck...

4/29/2025 2:34pm I'm going to the MX race at Thunder Valley in Lakewood Colorado in June. I'm curios about the time in traffic and getting into the parking area, walking to the entrance and getting to a spectator area on Satuday June 7. I want to be there and park my butt somewhere around noon so if anyone can give me a...

3/15/2025 9:25pm Bob Hannah offered to sell me his bike for $20!!!! Houston SX March 1982, walking the pits Saturday morning, we couldn't find Hannah or Barnett, so my buddy said they might be at Rio Bravo track practicing and we drove there and found them chasing each other around the track. I was walking around the track and found Bob's Yamaha...

3/15/2025 8:02pm I had nearly all of Cycle News East 1983 but unfortunately cleaned house last year and pitched most of them. I still have Number 32: August 24, 1983, Number 33: August 31, 1983, and a partial November 23, 1983.

3/14/2025 2:55pm I received a reply from them last week informing me that "previous owners" had spent lots of time and money archiving the West editions and I should not expect them to invest in doing the same for the East editions. I wish this had been noted before I subscribed, but it's still good reading about the good ole days, racing...
