OldPro277 Liked a reply to forum topic Super trick XR200R racer for my daughter
5/17/2021 8:06am Thanks guys.., I really do appreciate the comments. In means a lot coming from guys that know what they’re looking at and realize the time and engineering that goes into some of these builds. We are dialing it in on the vintage track we have on our farm between her house and ours . The planned debut of that bike will be at an AHRMA National June 12/13. In the meantime she’s been racing the 74 Husky/Honda in the Vintage class and her “practice” XR200 in the Post Vintage. Hopefully the 74 Noguchi Stage 2 125 will be ready for...

5/7/2021 4:22am Myself , my 31 yo Daughter and Son-in-law all race Vintage X-Country and Moto. My daughter just started racing last season and has done remarkably well . So well in fact, that the AHRMA board bumped her into the Expert class, so I figured "what the hell, might as well build her an Expert type of machine" I found a decent 82 XR200R ,but the Cam bearing was bad so obviously that meant an entire frame up ,super modded , trick-out ,high performance rebuild was needed !! I wanted to trim some weight off the bike as it weighed in...

4/30/2021 12:39am I just found some pictures which show you guys the steepness of the terrain much better than what it seems through the GoPro footage. View from above...this was after a steep uphill with long waves...on top a sharp left and then you faced this lip:
Steep downhill and sharp 180 at the bottom...
This is the downside of the "o'Mara Jump"...the face of the jump was as steep ...25m lenght on top...then this landing is angled to the left going down reeeeaaally steep. That's the jump where Romain Febvre crashed and bent his handlebar a couple years ago...

4/27/2021 10:03pm My very first motorcycle was a 1971 Yamaha mini enduro JT1 60. I spent hours on end riding it when I was a wee lad. Eventually something went wrong with the engine and it went by the way side and my parents got me into racing 50’s. All that said after many years and wondering if I would ever find one I decided to start to actively search for one but definitely did not want to pay for what a restored one goes for. After many searches I found 3 this week that were within an hour of my house...

4/17/2021 11:00pm I’m waiting on my shocks from Race Tech. I have this tank but I’m not sure I want to use it for racing. I have a plastic Clark tank I’ll probably use. This tank is a survivor with only a couple very small dings. It’s been repainted but has no dent repair.

4/17/2021 11:00pm I used a plastic seat base I bought from DC Plastics. I had to make the brackets but it fits very well after I heated it and let it relax against the frame.

4/16/2021 4:47pm Hi M1000, I built this bike as a Johnny O'Mara 1986 MXdN tribute hence the #3. Most of the detail was removed when I rode it at the VMXdN at Farleigh Castle England for a few years. Johnny O'Mara came to England for the race and took a look at it. He gave me a big thumbs up.

3/30/2021 11:42am Back in the day weight was not of a concern. Never was. I would say for more than 99% of all motocrossers weight isn't considered an important factor regarding Motocross. Only when looking for a new bike you see those numbers where KTM usually beats all the concurrence by several pounds. But throughout the year i have never heard of someone choosing a part because it weighs less than an other... Anyway - after i quit my active racing career in '98 all my focus went to bicycles. I trained all my racing career on bicycles and really found a...

3/24/2021 12:58pm Well - if you have spent hours,days,weeks,months...in the garage and in the net to find parts and refurbish every angle...you might think different. At least i do. I had this happen 3 times already
I fisrt rebuilt my VRP and had a hard time to actually use it. I did just one race for the italian vintage championships in 2015 and that was it:
That's when i decided i needed a "stock" bike to compete in those races so i built myself a nice racebike. Same story...all new from the ground up...and the 1st race was a mudder...

3/23/2021 1:45pm It’s on one wheel at least. I’m still trying to decide what shocks to use. I’ll probably put Race Tech Emulators in the front.

TTperra Started a new thread Showa 49 conventional springs
3/19/2021 11:20pm Looking for springs for my -98 Showa 49mm forks. I compared to YZ 96-03 springs, and they are almost same od and length, about 0,5mm smaller od and 1-2mm shorter. Have anyone tried those springs? When i search, i find different suggestion of compatible springs, but never YZ springs?

3/19/2021 11:20pm A little update, i found spec of the springs and the RM springs are supposed to be 10mm longer than the YZ springs, i guess the RM springs are worn.. so i just fab a distance collar, i made them from POM.

3/19/2021 3:14pm I plan to build this bike as a 1990 model with HPP engine to be used in the swiss vintage championships where you can use bikes up to 1990. I already have a 1989 VRP, so this one should be slightly different and i hope i can push/convince myself to actually race it. I have a completely rebuilt engine ready to go. New crank, bearings, clutch...you name it - everything new. Also a 1990 Mugen kit is ready to be installed:
Just the other year i was lucky to get hold of a 1990 Mugen fork kit. The outer...

3/19/2021 3:11pm It's been quite a while since i've posted here...so here's a little update: A little over a year ago i finally got hold on yet another 1989 VRP alloy chassis kit. Years ago it was a small group of friends and enthusiasts who asked Carlo Verona, the main man at VRP, to do us some replicas of his original aluminium chassis of back in the day. To tell the truth-at first i was strictly against it as it takes away some of the glamour when there's more such bikes around. Up to that only 12 such chassis got made and...

3/12/2021 10:56am Yes, stiffer springs i need. The bike is a little more heavy than the RM125 they came from, and the rider is a lot bigger than the average 125 rider.. I can order Eibach springs, but want to find locally. Everything outside country takes longer to recive beacuse Covid, and anything outside EU is custom and taxes.. I have read...
