About Me

Born and live in Northern NY. I am passionate about dirt bikes. I spent the 7 years without a bike but recently bought an '06 YZ125 and new riding gear. I am just happy to be riding and able to share my love of bikes with like minded people. I intend to build my bike right when finances are available. I respect others to their opinions and treat people how I want to be treated. I don't exaggerate, lie or make claims that I can't back up with proof. Above all I value TRUTH no matter how it comes. Love it! My first full size bike was none other than a 1988 CR125. Not a common build to find but a much appreciated restore. I had the same problem with cases deteriorating & leaking requiring new right side case etc. Happened to me in 1994. Very respectable results on your project. Takes me back.

Yes they aren't cheap that's true. $176 is total of my cart right now for entire engine inside and out with blue anodized aluminum. The Allen heads aren't bad around $1.28 each. Short race spec drilled etched just over $2 with the longest ones at $3.78 each. I respect everyone's right to build their own bike the way they choose...

Love your idea to go lightweight as possible. You may already know but just in case, Pro Bolt USA makes awesome fasteners. 7075 aluminum & titanium. Race spec drilled are as light as bolts get and etched logo looks bad ass. Each to his own but IMO 7075-T6 bolts are plenty strong for alot of applications & is the lightest...

97mm if I remember was popular setting for that particular bike but subject to rider preference etc. The 100mm rule of thumb goes back decades.

Had a friend with a '95 CR125 fresh from shop with new too end. Ran poor and after trying everything eventually found piston installed backwards. True story

I'm not familiar with the '07 but I thought other RMs have a vertical bridge in the center exhaust port. Is the port totally open with no bridge? To clarify I'll send a pic with what I believe to be original cylinder . My point is that if your cylinder has been modified could be source of your issues.

A failing CDI box would cause all that. Unless I missed it sounds like you haven't tried that. Carb, coil and stator swapped leaves CDI. Sounds like you may have a donor bike to borrow parts for testing. Very lucky if you do. Disregard if you've already tried this. Just trying to help of i can

The following suggestions I read in MOTOCROSS ACTION, DIRT RIDER over 20 years ago. Use straight liquid dish soap on beads. Stays super slippery while mounting and dries kinda like glue and actually helps rim tire from slipping on rim. It's cheap and in most households already plus it washes off with water.
