Theres nothing I like more than motocross but I completely agree with you. Anytime I feel like doing a actual race now I stick to hare scrambles. Show up 30 minutes before your race, warm up a bit, and then go run your 1-2 hour moto and leave. You can't beat it.

Sadly, It's mostly true and speaking for myself - the race experience and culture I grew passionate about in the 70's and 80's doesn't exist anymore, and it's not a reasonable expectation, as things change, but now it's kind of a drag when things go well, and the day is a waste if it goes long or there is an issue. Just not enough seat time for the trouble. We've taken to ride days instead of races - and are tossing in the Hare Scrambles too, and MTB, which is slowly moving me away from dirt bikes altogether. so tonight went real bad until it went good, car was stuttering and falling on its face in hotlaps/qualifying and pulled off, went leaner in the main and it got worse, went richer and it was way better for the main, got to get comfortable and was literally the first main I started since my first race and the first main I finished, got 8th out of 11 but the other guys had mechanicals so technically I got last😂 will have videos up tomorrow, I didn’t run the GoPro with all the jetting drama but I have iPhone video

Car is ready to go pretty much, I inspected my fuel bladder and found a small tear and got the proper urethane to repair it, filled it up with fuel and zero leak so far. I also had a small oil leak coming from my oil pressure gauge nipple (I said nipple). New rear end is installed and the ball covering the u joint spins freely now, installed a drag link tether and also put the 53 front axle on that we straightened. Ive never heard of one in a sprinter. in my area in the late 70s and early 80s (Big H Speedway) there were straight 6s in skinny cars and modifieds. Back then most everyone was using Gremlin and Vega skins. If it had a 6, it usually had an Offenhauser aluminum intake and 2 barrel. The limited modified we had in '81 was Vega skins, center steer with bicycle sprockets/chains to create the quick steer and relocate to center. Took my Wife on a "date night" to Placerville (CA) Speedway this last weekend. Great show, we both loved it. Good mix of classes too, (24) 360 Winged Sprinters, (16) Wingless, Super Stocks, and Compact pickups. All classes were bringing it on the 1/4 Circle track. I don’t get this place. Vince may rub you all the wrong way but the guy is racing at the highest level, making a living doing what we all love and wish we could do. I saw them 12-13 years ago in Portland and they were great. No security, so the crowd was stage diving and singing into the mics all night. We had to drive 2.5hrs to see the Crowbar/EHG show a little while back cause the local show was 21+.
