rogers Added a reply to 1986 KX500 Restored

Thats insane. Nice to see someone else that appreciates that bike. Its the gold standard in big bore bikes and the most violent 500 cc dirt bike ever made. Do you happen to know anyone that makes high quality pressure molded side covers and radiator shrouds for the 1986 250/500 bikes?

I worked in the r and d department of kawi at that time and the power valve engines made much better power. In fact I am currently racing an 86 kx250 that I had tom do some work on.

rogers Added a reply to tell me about the 1985 kx250

Absolutely nothing wrong with an 85 kx250 trans, providing it is good to start with, or rebuilt properly, Frames only crack when people abuse them, so look it over closely by the welds first. Good bikes for vintage if your class is 85 and earlier, although there are slightly better ones. This being said, all these bikes are getting hard...

"Ripping everything super deep and then calling it a day has gotten so annoying..." Yes, the prep used to be xlnt there, but I don't know too many average riders that like to ride in 12"+ deep ruts. The other issue is that there is a person that moved in next to the track that has called the police on...

rogers Started a new thread NEED 1986 KX250 IGNITION TIMING INFO

12/31/2021 11:50am
There are 3 timing marks on a stock 86' KX250 stator plate, but the factory general owners/service manual does not state which of the 3 marks on the plate should be lined up with the mark on the engine case. I need to know with certainty exactly which mark on the stator plate should be used. Thanks

Any YZ125 from 1996 onward. The 1997 model had a much faster motor. 1998 is when they went to Reflex blue instead of that dingy navy color; also a larger rear rotor. '99-'01 are all excellent with minor tweaks. '02-'04 have the new body style but they went with a 5-speed transmission. I owned an '03 and did not like the gearbox. It was too wide for a 125. If it were my money I'd avoid these models. Still a great bike, but not as easy to gear it correctly. 2005 was the massive redesign and 10-pound weight reduction. Aluminum...

Swap Moto will have the most riders in her class, but just for your info, the majority of the riders in swap moto are riding at least 1 class below their skill level. I know this because I ride with every single club in so cal, but that being said, I think you put here in the right class. There...

A most xlnt question. I just called and they told me they will have 3 sets of bleachers, so there is a possibility that the bleacher seating may be taken if one does not arrive early enough. They are also requiring masks for the people that sit in the bleachers, but if you stay at least 6" way from others...
