We're approaching the point where some electric hater is going to buy a Varg to electrocute an elephant with the battery.

This whole argument is dumb If you don't want an electric bike, don't buy one. If you want to keep riding ice, you will still be able to ride them. Technological advancement will continue despite attempts to stay in the past. Remember when phones were connected to wires? Remember leaded gas? Horse and buggy? Chariots? Either welcome new tech or get left in the loud, smelly, high maintenance dust. Sure, there are limitations to the tech...but the same can be said for ice. It's all motocross Just ride what you got!

Not sure but probably, we are building power stations some green sourced energy others are diesel generators in some of the most remote areas in the world to allow to circumnavigate australia in a e vehicle. I think thats pretty cool, and glad my tax dollars are going to that rather than im sure a lot of other things... Funding E vehicle infrastructure is a tax expenditure I support. Although from my admittedly middling amount of research Oil, Gas and coal get far more tax subsidies (handouts) than almost any other non publicly run industry, and we pay some the...

So you would rather have no electric options available when the time comes and gas bikes are supposedly phased out? Seems like we should probably be working the kinks out now if that's really the way you're convinced things are headed. But more to the point, if you and a lot of others would actually listen to the interview I posted we address a lot of these concerns, and more. Unless you do not, in fact, actually want to learn more about electric bikes and just like posting in threads that ask if you do. . . which is a...

I love how we went from "That's not real and it will never be a race bike" to "That's not fair my gas bike can't compete with that" in a matter of months

In my opinion, many feel like, "With all the issues in our sport, why even try to change?" But times are changing and if our sport doesn't, soon it'll be gone. Instead of complaining, why not address problems one by one? Water, liability, erosion? Find solutions! Noise? E-bikes might be an answer, and if you don't like that answer, try...

Yeah let's put this idea to rest once and for all. Just kidding, it will pop back in the next electric thread. Anyway, long thread. In 2022, coal accounts for 36% of the global electricity mix. However coal will soon be second to renewables (30% and growing steady). In all, fossil fuels still account for 60% of the total electricity world production, the remaining 10% come from nuclear power. Let's go back to bikes (or cars, sorry about that). Building a new EV produce around 80% more emissions than comparable gas-powered car , but like with gasoline cars, most emissions...

"Sure there are very real issues with extracting Li, Co etc..." means that I agree it's not all lies. This first sentence linking Li and Co mining to child labor in Africa is only half a lie, and then it all goes downhill from here. Issues with Co extraction in DRC have been well documented in scientific literature and mainstream media for years, that's why the industry is moving away from it (for instance in the past couple of years, half of Tesla cars have been using Co-free batteries, using Fe instead, and they're still reducing their Co use). Either...

Sure there are very real issues with extracting Li, Co etc... Still the damage to the environment is not comparable to the extraction and use of fossil fuels. Yet you have no idea what you're talking about, I won't spend my day debunking so many lies in so little lines, I will just take this opportunity to remind you that Australia is the world largest Li producer, followed by Chile and China. 0.6% of Li production comes from Africa (similar to US production). Africa holds 1% of Li world reserves. It's probably better if you stick to bikes. I'm just...

I get where you're coming from, and you make some valid points about the evolution of the sport. But I'd like to weigh in on the topic of tracks. The advent of e-bikes is already revolutionizing accessibility. Just in my vicinity, there's a new track specifically build for e-bikes like the KTM Freeride and Stark. It's right next to residential...
