10/12/2026 5:22am Yeah it does my head in when people talk about this. The GP paddock is not full of prototype works bikes that are on a whole other level compared to the US production based bikes. Firstly, running a full proto bike is most likely much more expensive than running a production bike. And the GP teams aren't swimming in Euros as we all know. Secondly, the works bikes are usually just the OEMs running the next gen bike a year early. Like Honda in 2026, KTM with Adamo in the latter part of 2026, Kawasaki with Febvre in 2023. And...

10/11/2026 5:55pm America doesn't have the riders anymore to win, and the top guys that are left don't want to invest the time and money to go race in Europe and lose. This isn't just riders spending more time on Supercross, foreign riders are dominating there too. Give it a generation and some American kids can come up and you will probably be on top again.

10/11/2026 5:54pm Hannah raced an RM125 in 1987 MXdN, five years since he last raced one in a series. He didn't complain or make excuses. I hear so much whining and gnashing of teeth over on this side of the pond, and I don't think that culture is changing anytime soon. We've a lot of work to do and as long as...

10/11/2026 5:51pm Well, our best current 450 rider didn't want to come out to play either, so we have that in common. My point isn't actually about the performance of the riders individually on the day - rather the culture that has seemingly developed in the US, among some fans at least, of making excuses. "Wrong fuel/ not enough time on the bikes/never rode a 250 before/Forato knocked me off/we don't ride tracks like this/we never get good gate picks/ this race is irrelevant and we shouldn't go" etc etc etc It's totally the wrong mindset. Seewer rode a 250 for the...

10/11/2026 5:50pm “… so this race is basically another GP with 3 Americans jumping in…” Mitch said this as well; unfortunately this displays a very American centric perspective and does a great disservice to Australia, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, Japan, New Zealand. As for the SX disadvantage; hasn’t seemed to be a problem for Jett, Hunter, Roczen and others in previous years, or Vialle and Prado for that matter, in recent years.

10/11/2026 5:49pm You should consider that the 350 million Americans are largely anti-motorcycle and most are definitely not interested in dirt biking. Belgium only has about 12 million people… we have cities bigger than that… but they have been a dominant force in MX for decades. It has nothing to do with a country’s size or borders and everything to do with the culture.

10/11/2026 5:46pm USA struggle at MXON because they are national riders. Not international. Supercross lures them in with the big bucks, but Herlings seems to have do ok financially without it, so maybe there is other ways to get by. Maybe USA needs to pick a team a bit earlier, go across the pond & line up at few euro GP’s, get some experience before the big day.

10/11/2026 11:20am The funding the Belgian team got from the federation was close to one. Just enough to get the trucks full of gas to get all the equipment to France, but not enough to get them back home so to speak. And that's just to France, a neighboring country. All the funding came from private sponsors. Some of them have been for years, others were new, which had to be found by the people working for the Belgian team. They were able to set a new standard this year. With a complete hospitality setup, a sponsor dinner on Saturday, hundreds of...

10/11/2026 6:19am I've said it over and over again, Once you're over here racing in the United states of America, you're an American motocross racer. Your country of origin doesn't matter to me at all.

10/11/2026 6:19am Reading through all these post….some valid points….sadly the USA does not have any riders that specialize in outdoors any longer….everything is SX now…or you don’t hold onto your ride very long….appears the US riders just try to survive the outdoors then back to SX ….its a shame, as outdoor Mx is the foundation of our sport…so this race is basically another GP with 3 Americans jumping in…. ….maybe now that the world SX has folded, the monster super duper Sx clown show can go away and give these guys some down time…maybe even time to prep for the MXON….? And...

10/10/2026 8:10pm I see a few things that have lead over time to Americas slide. Bikes- euros have the ability to change the frame , subframe etc and truly make the bike their own. Americans are on production frames and the fuel isn’t the same they are used to Suspension- Americans really love stiff suspension from supercross. Although that is changing because supercross isn’t nearly as technical as it used to be. Again another issue the Americans are facing. Less technicality, more wide open tracks. Lastly the euros have simply stepped the game up. From the amateur racing on real tracks and...

10/10/2026 8:03pm Didn't the US win their first MXdN in 1981, when they sent their 'B' team? Maybe the US talent isn't as deep now.

10/10/2026 8:03pm The MXoN is a very good example of American riders Prima Donna behavior and Euros just getting on with it. Men vs. boys. Numerous riders from American can't go for any number of reasons, 25-year-old Marchbanks not having a passport was unbelievable - maybe he needs mentorship - but most, not all, Euro riders just race it. No matter what, stock bikes , borrowed bikes, broken bones, they race. No wonder we get our asses kicked on our own soil, so many riders in this country are the star of their own movie, all flash and no substance. Hayden is...

10/10/2026 8:01pm This has been beat to death as of late. Two main contributing factors, we’re soft and other countries caught up. I will say I’m by far one of the biggest 38 haters there is but right now he’s the only young American guy that really has grit. Which is wild to me because growing up a rich kid he should have every reason not to. Some Americans are really bothered by the fact we’re getting beat on our own soil. Personally I don’t really care what flag you fly unless it’s MXDN. The rest of the time I just want...

10/10/2026 8:00pm It's your culture and I believe facilities are the problem, culture being number 1(the new America). I was thinking about facilities, I'll just take Star for example, Star operates like a dick measuring contest, they want their riders to kill each other out there and the riders want to be the top dog. The problem with this environment is that the riders want to be the top dog at the test track, whilst they are out there trying to beat each other they sacrifice technique in order to beat their team mates. Using Deegan as an example, you have a...

10/10/2026 7:59pm So, 45-year mx fan and racer here. In my humble opinion, the U.S. has lost the plot in terms of its ability to compete on the world stage. RJ, Wardy, O Show, Emig, MC, even Lechien and many others would not come back from a 5th place at the MXON with anything less than an attitude of "what needs to change, now?" We lost to Latvia. Even my favorite MX journalists like JT, Weege and Matthes seem okay with this. What happened? BTW, the GP crowd is coming here and taking all the glory. The older racers grew up on...

10/10/2026 4:42pm Can anybody help me with a couple of photos of the shock reservoir mount top of my Kx500 a1. Am doing a resto and have discovered that something is broken away from the upper mount that is required for a small screwed on bracket to latch on to. No idea what it looked like, and my a2 bike has a totally different system. If anybody owns one of these, would they be prepared to unhook the reservoir and photograph the frame mount from various angles so I can get a 3D idea of whats missing? Be stoked if this could...
