I dumped out the gas this morning and put straight c12/klotz in. Noise/detonation is totally gone throughout now. Guess it was a fuel issue and not jetting

It sounds to me that fouling sparkplugs has become issue because riders are so used to fours strokes these days. Even with old carbureted two stroke bikes you don't want to leave your bike idling longer periods because you are going to foul your plug if you aren't blipping the throttle.

You actually want a 84 and newer clutch basket to get the one piece gear arrangement. Yes you will also need the straight cut primary gear to go with it. The little gear on the back of the clutch is driven by the kick starter to start the bike. It is just pressed in so with a good kick on the big bore it can spin and slip. Once it slips it just gets worse. Yes that is the older style kick starter shaft with the pressed on stop. If you can't find a newer one then just have someone...

12/3/2024 1:19pm I will preface that I haven't done this mod. I believe both are the 125mm diameter hub, so should work. I might suggest you ask this question on the Delphi Bultaco forum where I am sure members have done this conversion. I am more familiar with 140mm hubs

6/12/2024 4:57pm Have you set the timing and points gap?. I have found getting the points ignition spot on helps to reduce the bog on cracking the throttle.
