See above link to the carb that is most similar to the one I am working with. Although the bike is a 1962(?) C105, 55cc Honda Cub, I think...
Anyways, here is my carb issue, the bike starts easy, idles great, both idle and air screws function and change the characteristics of the carb as they should. But if I give it even a little gas, it will stumble and die UNLESS I set the idle pretty high, then it will break through and run very strong.
So if it were on a scale, and
1 was idle, runs perfectly,
2-3 slight stumble and dies if idle is regular but breaks through if idle is set high
4-10 runs super strong, very responsive, revs out great ect.
I have cleaned the carb at least 10 times at this point. Any old time gurus out there that might give some insight? I have moved the needle clip from lean to rich and back, with varying results, but none that fix the problem.
Thanks!
Have you set the timing and points gap?.
I have found getting the points ignition spot on helps to reduce the bog on cracking the throttle.
Good idea, I'll check it now!
That was it! I was just slightly early in the timing, runs great now!
