With some brakes it doesn't matter which way you mount them so you can just flip the levers around. Setting your sag and tire pressure is as important as moto. Definitely go tubeless.

tire pressure makes a HUGE different in how the bike feels. I run 22 front 25 rear on DH casing tires. I'm 190 pounds.

Make sure you're comfy with the brakes being "wrong." You can swap your front brake over to the right hand, if you want. (Interesting to note: that's how they come over in Europe. In America, we're backwards on bicycles.)

Oh man you as a moto guy you will be fine. Correctly set your saddle height, set tire and fork pressure before every ride, keep the drivetrain clean and lubed, super easy compared to keeping the moto bike good. All I can say is don’t under dress, especially if you’re riding downhill. I have a dh approved helmet that has a removable chin bar. Hot xc rides I remove it but anything remotely fast or downhill it’s on. New bikes have great brakes, the issue isn’t the brakes it’s tire contact when trails get really steep and dry. There really fun but will bite you so be a little careful at first. Also when you loose the front end on a motorcycle you have the throttle. When you loose the front end on a mountain bike your going down.
