From a viewers standpoint, I've always enjoyed watching the AMA nationals way more than the GP's.. Maybe Dungey says the US competition is tougher because all he thinks about are the first 5 moto's of the season. In all seriousness though, everybody is entitled to their opinion and it doesn't mean shit until they go over there and race.
