What are the best come from behind races to win? (I.E. Last to first or some place deep, like 18th in sx or 30+ in outdoors)..Im talking 125s-250s-450s etc...even in europe that i don't know about.. post it up

Only ones i can think of are

1. Rc -125 at southwick?? deadlast to win
2. Js259- 125- deadlast at southwick also or millville to win?
3. Mc -250- deadlast in san diego to win?
4. JS7-450- Toronto 2014

Correct me if im wrong, or feel free to add in.

The JS259 125 one you are thinking of is Budds Creek 03, got into a facebook argument with Roczen over that one he said the competition is too good now days for that and I politely reminded him of Toronto 2014.

JS7 had another one in 07 I cant remember which race but he came from last or near last to get 1st.

RC at Washogul 1999 came from last to second

Pretty sure RR came from last to 4th in a moto at southwick in 1999

Damon Bradshaw went from last to first in a 125 Supercross back in the late 80s (maybe early 90s). But the one I'd say is probably my all time favorite is Dungey going from almost a full lap down to seventh at Southwick in 2011.

Well......what if you were down a lap and still won? As in RC had to get into first , then proceeded to lap the entire field in that mud race. Can't be much further behind than that if you you wanna lap 2nd right?

Reynard 98 Unadilla moto one was a long way back.

Ricky and Chad both did last to 2nd at Pontiac 02.

Reed 04 at Indy was a good one to 2nd, LaRocco's last win.

What about Herlings in Lierop 2012 lapping everyone but second man van Horebeek who came in 2.07 minutes behind Herlings? That was impressive!

Pretty impressive yes, but Herlings' sand skills are known. He had a gap of 2min7sec at the finish on Van Horebeek. His best laptime was 1:55.316, Van Horebeek's was 2:01.404. Third man Anstie's best lap was 2:04.815. In fact Herlings had the time to wait at the gate for the rest to pull a lap away. That would've been impressive.

2012 in Italy where Herlings and Searle crashed at the start in moto 2. Both got 1st and 2nd with their best laptimes in lap 18 of 19 laps.

Dungey's performance at Southwick in 2011 was one of the best rides I think I've ever seen.

Almost an entire lap down on the field and charges through to 7th in pretty grim conditions.

edit: Sorry just realised you meant race winners doh! Still a great ride though.

One of the best I've seen in person was Shaun Simpson at a British Championship round at Blaxhall this year. Crashed in the second turn and was dead last, came through to win in a 20 minute moto. That was impressive

Millsaps at Loretta's. He came into the first left hand turn several seconds behind the entire field. Fought his way back to 2nd.

Bradshaw, in one of my alltime favorite rides went from last to second at Miami sx in 89. Ty Davis finished 1st. Complete beach sand track. Ive never seen anything like it(the track that is) since. Bayle got second that night too on the 250.

Edit to say Im going with your Dungey southwick ride also. Very inspiring.

Bradshaw won that race. As a kid who raced a YZ80 at the time and was obsessed with Bradshaw I was going nuts in the stands during the entire race.

The 1989 track was unique with the sandy shellrock it was built from. I remember first walking into the stadium and was shocked to see that they made a track out of that material. We were at the 1987 Miami SX at the Orange Bowl and it was built from some rock hard clay that looked like typical west coast SX dirt. The sight of a white SX course was shocking for sure.

In the opening shot of this video clip you can also see #369 Doug Henry racing his first ever 125 SX main event. He is easy to pick out because he has white backgrounds with black numbers in the 125 class. Someone may have been napping during tech inspection.

Winning from the LCQ

This doesn't apply because it's road racing but it's one of my favorite scenarios like above with a twist.

Rossi was hit with a 10 second penalty for passing under a yellow flag. He didn't know, his pit board communicated it to him. He was passing for 2nd place at the time. He proceeded to run down the leader and then put in qualifying pace laps to pull 15 second lead on the field to win the race by 5 seconds.

Stew at Budds was his first race back after breaking his collarbone in Vegas, wasn't it?

He also was essentially last but for RC at Hangtown (06/07) and passed Reedy for the win by the end of the moto. Watching RC and Stew blast through the pack was pretty great.

I don't think mud races like Millville (or Everts at Fox Hills) really fit this sort of scenario. Incredible performances, worth holding up for awe, but in my mind anyway a bit of a different category given the conditions.

That was a mudder.. Hannah finished right behind Howerton... who happened to be in 2nd place. Perfect Hangtown sand track to boot.

One I recall in person was from 1992. Loretta Lynn's schoolboy class.
Reynard crashed in the first turn sweeper, got up nearly a lap down, passed the whole field within 3 or 4 laps and went on to win the moto by over a minute. Best part - beating Tim Ferry's lap time from the A class by several seconds.

Actually I meant Stanton at 90 I think. Holland? Don't know why I got 92, you know, the one in my home fucking country that he didn't attend!
