A buddy and I were randomly talking about this today. There's definitely something different today than 10-20 years ago, and it's not in a better way from a spectators standpoint. Complacent comes to mind when watching most of todays races.

Totally agree except for the fireworks. I'm a sucker for some explosions.

Like a good personality? All opinions on her ego aside, she does a great job in front of the camera, knows her way around the sport very well and is horrendously gorgeous (see above photos for evidence). That pretty much checks all the boxes for an ideal Miss SX.

They have at least hundreds of guys drooling over them, telling them how amazing and gorgeous they are and that they would do anything to be with them, EVERY DAY. What are the chances those same girls turn out humble, rational and not horribly full of themselves? A lot less than most guys want to believe…

His consistency is what’s led him to dominate this year and a couple others. Hopefully Tomac settles down a bit more next year and continues where he left off.

I obviously don’t know where you work or what is safe or not for your work but seems like if they’re cool with you cruising Cycle News, Racer X and Vital, they might not think an ad of a girl in a swimsuit is out of line.

Agreed. With employers just hiring more, not really paying more, it’s pretty tough for the average person to afford a hobby requiring that initial cost. It was mentioned in a column that $9k for today’s bike isn’t all that bad compared to $6k for a bike in 2000 after adjusting for inflation. The problem is average annual inflation of ~3%...

I've shattered a femur and due to the length of the incision, that leg takes some work to keep at full strength. As a result, I've compensated a bit and 10 years later I have some other issues starting to pop up including knee pains. But i'd still rather not have to worry about a repaired knee. Seems like those...

Thats offensive... ...ly accurate. Going that low cost him a broken collarbone. Theres a point where the danger massively outweighs the 0.1 second gained.

It definitely looked that way going into the outdoors, so I'd say that was more of a rational observation by some rather than "haters".
