Take away the rider's identity. The braintrust is suggesting a guy that podium'd last year stop embarrassing himself and retire already. Reed knows exactly where he is at and what he is capable of. I like that he has the passion to keep racing this year. Who wouldn't have liked to seen Stew or RC make special appearances or race until the new generation of riders takes their crown? Anyone that is a fan of the sport should appreciate him giving it all as long as he is willing.

I don't get this. How exactly is he taking someone else's spot in the main event that might have a future career given the chance? Everyone that signs up get their turn on track to make the fast 40 for the night show. From there it's on to the heat races and LCQ's. Reed paid the entry fees, made the fast 40, and put it in the main events. If the other guys want to take his spot, it's simple, they just have to beat him. So if Reed politely handed over the spot he officially earned to to someone that wasn’t quite good enough to take it from legitimately, What “chance” would he be giving them at a future if they weren’t good enough to beat him out of the spot in the first place.

He hasn't been able to train due to busted ribs. He is going to have to race into shape this year. He will be inside the top ten by the last third or half of the season.

As much of a fan I am, I must agree. He's been off the bike for like 6+ months at this point and is racing on a bike he's ridden what, once or twice? Top 10 would be a good result. Don't get me wrong, I still believe the old man can pull out wins but not straight after beeing off the bike for this long, no one can.
