8/20/2025 11:07am Decided to join in on the KX450 fun. “Let the good times roll”. At $7,000 shipped to my house, it was a deal too good to pass up. Fit and finish on the bike is really good and I didn’t notice anything concerning while performing new bike prep work. Super excited to get it out on the track to see how it performs. I’m generally a 125 rider, so the softer/smoother power should suit me well.

8/20/2025 11:07am I've gone green as well. Just picked up a brand new 2024 450 for 6700 out the door. Rode it on a turn track today and all I can say is wow...it is exactly what I was hoping for. Much easier to ride than any 450 I've tried before. Perfect motor for a 50+ mid pack guy like me!!

6/30/2025 7:06am I feel like it was safer because the combination of limited traction, rough tracks, and hard to ride bikes made for a slower overall speed and smaller jumps. When 4 strokes came out, they were so much easier to ride fast, unskilled riders were suddenly able to go fast and clear big jumps. If the track is not a freeway it is a lot harder for most riders to go fast on a 2 stroke. It takes a lot more skill to get traction and carry speed.

6/12/2025 12:14pm 30+ a rider, I ride a 50/50 mix of moto and woods. I had a 17 350 sxf, 19 350sxf, a 19 250fx, then a 23 mc125 and 300xcw, then a 24 250xc, and now a 25 250fx. The Yamaha chassis feels more planted & consistent while cornering and in the super fast rough stuff. Suspension is better, for myself on the Yamaha. The Yamaha out of the box is much stiffer than the 24 250xc was. I don’t revalve my suspension. I can turn the clickers in on the Yamaha and be comfortable on mx tracks while still being...

6/12/2025 10:41am Well, hes 14 so theres that lol. The problem with him is he doesnt complain about anything, not even suspension. It doesnt matter if hes racing rocks or sand, i ask him how the bike felt and he just says it feels good. Hes a very accomplished off road racer and very fast on a motocross track even though thats not his preferred discipline. He rode the honda and didnt have any complaints at all, but hes been on a yamaha since 2018. He rode the yamaha and honda back to back, both 2025's, and at the time he was...

6/12/2025 10:12am Bro you’re 42. You aren’t some ancient man. There’s plenty of guys your age out at the tracks. You don’t have to race. I run a couple races a year, but for the most part get my enjoyment riding tracks with my friends every weekend, putting in hard laps, throwing some style/whips, and having fun. That’s what it’s about. Get your ass on a bike before you’re too old saying woulda coulda shoulda. You’re gonna make some great memories with your kids.

6/12/2025 10:12am (You probably know all this) The biggest thing is ride a track as much as you can to get back in riding shape (2-3x/wk thru 5 gals of gas). Go as fast as you can and jump the small stuff at first. The jumps will come. Enter a race on the track you’ve been practicing at. Try to stay loose in the race. You’re gonna be super pumped with intense fun and gumption, but don’t hold on too tight. Try to breathe. I would get Aflac just in case. 😎

6/12/2025 10:00am Both haha I can honestly say I didn’t have a problem with the stock suspension on my 300sx but I’m sure the Yamaha would be much better! Thanks

6/12/2025 9:54am Bringing this topic back I’m in the same boat but comparing 2025 models. I know they say the 25 YZ 250f has less bottom and more mid and the 25 350sxf has more bottom now. Just wondering if you guys have any suggestions. 56 yrs young B rider 5’8’’ 175 lbs. coming off of a 2024 ktm 300SX which was...

4/24/2025 11:46am That's what we did, although it was a few months ago. 24.5 GG FE 250 at $9k OTD which was a screaming deal IMHO given the spec and performance the FE delivers. Resale? RESALE??? LOL it's a toy. The only bikes I ever make $$$$ on are some of the Yamana RD 2 stroke street bikes I restore, and on them my labor rate came out to about $1 an hour.
I've never made $$$ on a race bike, nor even come close to breaking even.

1/31/2025 3:59am Why would ktm need an updated 250f this season even if they didn’t have a financial mess? The bike really doesn’t need anything. Unless you’re a staunch “I hate airforks” guy and honestly from what I’ve seen of those guys they hardly hit 3rd gear on a track anyway.

6/25/2024 5:30am I have a 2023 KX 250 and they are revers so I know what you mean. I have a vortex mapped by XPR a full pro circuit exhaust and one tooth up on the rear sprocket I also run VP T4 and though it helped quite a bit, it’s still a rever, but man is it fun to hold that...

10/16/2023 10:33am I started this thread almost a year ago. Bought the Honda about this time last year when I couldn’t find a 2023 Yamaha. Never did get to ride the Honda much. Seemed like everyday I had a chance to go to the track it rained and tracks were closed. It can rain a lot in Houston in winter and spring. Then hurt my hand non riding accident in early June and couldn’t ride, went to the track for the first time a few weeks back. I did ride it enough to come to some conclusion. It’s not a bad dreadful...
