MoogenKen Added a reply to Kawasaki is bringing the two stroke back!
6/4/2026 10:48am Bore bigger than stroke, over square. Stroke bigger than bore is undersquare. Think about it this way, Harley’s are notoriously undersquare. Why they’re all grunt off the bottom. Yes Sir, I’ve got to stop and think about it. Then I’ll start doing equations, trying to figure out how, when, and why 5252 happens. Yep, tune myself right out of a...

6/4/2026 10:41am Thank you. I like square engines too. Maybe I mis-read it, but isn’t the stroke larger (longer) than the bore on this 327? Making it under square? I may be confusing myself at this point lol

6/4/2026 10:23am I’m not claiming to be Smokey Yunick nor Mitch Payton, but I’ll just leave this here: Under-square engines (which have a smaller bore than stroke) naturally produce more torque at lower RPMs, while over-square engines (larger bore than stroke) are designed to rev higher and make more horsepower. [ 1 , 2 ] Here is a breakdown of why this...

6/4/2026 9:45am Without a doubt. 450s cams spinning up high in the bikes CG, will want to make it stand up straight. Was more referring to my own experience when I went to the dark side for a while. Coming right off a two stroke, the four banger was harder to throw around.

6/4/2026 9:35am Indeed. The gyroscopic effect of that mass can harm handling characteristics, I.e. turn in.

6/4/2026 9:34am The “moment” is affected by other spinning mass…other than just the crank, that is. The clutch assy, counter-balancer, transmission pieces…etc. and the starter has some mass, too, tho…only spinning at times that don’t play into this. They stack the gears and shafts differently in modern 2Ts. I’m just guessing here; but, compared to the 4T, I’m guessing this has a potentially lower cg & MOI and they played with that during testing.

6/4/2026 8:37am Bore is larger than stroke is over square. But I’m actually impressed you’re aware of the concept. I’ve always been a fan of square, because I think they’re the best all over. Undersquare for grunt, oversquare to rev.

6/4/2026 8:32am I twisted the absolute shit out of the throttle yesterday evening on my 150SX.Buddy bought a 2017 TC125 and i took it for a test ride. I had so much fun that took my 250SX straight back in the garage and grabbed the 150 to turn some laps. I was feeling really dialed in yesterday for some reason. That thing will rail some shit when you leave it pinned!! No more 4 strokes in my lifetime. Selling my YZ250F and going back to 2T's was the way for me.

6/4/2026 8:23am Apparently dirtbike magazine was the first to build a kx327. The fact that they also picked that number must mean thats the biggest you could get from the stock kx250 engine. They took a 2003 kx250, used the stock crank, and modified it for +4mm stroke. Then they bored out the stock cylinder and used a 74mm wiseco piston. That got them to 327cc. https://dirtbikemagazine.com/kawasaki-kx327-two-stroke-project/ Listening to weeges interview with the kawi guy he said the vision is to create more models of 2 strokes in the future. I’m sure that means a kx250, because if you can go up...

6/4/2026 8:17am So much misinformation about that partnership from 2003-2005. Suzuki co-branded models with Kawasaki and vice versa. The DRZ400 was rebranded as a KLX400 (but was suzuki manufactured). Both bikes were identical apart from plastic color. The KX250-F was rebranded as a RMZ250 (but was kawasaki manufactured). Both bikes were identical apart from plastic color. That was basically it for the bigger bikes.

6/4/2026 6:45am New updates on the engine side. Rebuild the right case and installed the transmision and crank. All new bearings and its currently waiting for the left crank case as I did mill 3,5mm on the face of the swingarm pivot in order to move the engine to the left side and align front to rear sprocket. After doing that, there is an space of 7,5mm in the right side between the case and the swingarm, the plan is to make either an spacer or a new complete bushing plus 7,5mm in order to fill up the space. The plan is...
