I would say so. I have a lot of respect for the US top riders, on their national tracks they are as fast as any GP rider. But stick them on the GP tour & they will start becoming lost in the variety of terrains, longer wk ends, track conditions, weather etc Do you remember Mitch Payten saying the fastest riders are the fastest riders, shortly before the Lommel MXON, referring to the fact that the US nationals guys will still be on top despite never competing at Lommel. What happened ? Pro circuit national champs Blake Baggest gets lapped...

It makes sense. No matter how good you are Sx is more of a lottery, yes there are better riders at coming though the pack, but Sx is narrow, steep & slippery. All with shorter more intense racing. Having the talent level of Roczen is wasted on an SX track, I’ve always felt he’s far more classy then that. Someone like Roczen can use his skills in a more patient way & gain advantages without such risks on a proper Gp track. Sx is a fun sport to follow, but it’s not the same as the true art of riding...

Noob?? I held a pro license in 1978. Broke my neck in January 1981. Bought land and ran a race track from 1997 to 2006. my son qualified for night shows in 2003-2005. A “noob” I’m not!

I remember when I saved all my grass cutting money to get a set of black BBR wheels for my TTR125. Everytime I changed tires a lost a few tears over the marks. I tried rim savers, cut up milk jugs, even pieces of rubber, still got marked up. One thing is for sure though, she was the baddest looking TTR at Currituck MX. Of course it was the only TTR there...but anyway. Black FTW!!!

Lets be honest, who wants to sign Covington if he is not coming with a bag full of cash... Not to blame or bash on the guy but it’s the hard truth those days... with some luck and a good moto on his part he can get a few points.
