A lot of the gear companies have discovered the cash cow that is cycling. Road kits are hard to find but for MTB you have TLD, Fox, FXR, Fasthouse, Fly, Thor, 100%, Oakley, etc.

The local dealership would have a row of 20-30 new 125s along the sidewalk and your blue collar dad could afford to buy you one every year. High schools had motocross teams. Gas was 60 cents a gallon. One year old used bikes were a couple hundred bucks, any after school job could buy a used bike if you were willing to work for it/your...

People in here is like: "Deano is such a cool guy, the sport is better with him" while bringing absolutely nothing to make racing better. Barcia, like him or not, makes it entertaining and he is fun to watch, whenever your favorite rider is near him has you on your feet wondering what is going to happen.

Revenue generates the marketing budget and you are right, it is not complicated. I think a better way to say it is they wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for the fans, but you do not "pay their salary". That's just a garbage attitude.

I'm curious. Can you give examples of questions the media's been told to ask, or not ask? Because when I listen to post race press conferences some of the questions they ask are total cringe. Why waste time asking questions to a rider that everyone already knows how they are going to respond? Seems to me, if anything, the press needs a little help asking real 'moto' questions. Granted, I'm saying this from the angle of someone who's had many amateur gate drops. That, or I'm completely missing the point of this thread.

The medic pointed at his thumb then did the throat slash and then pointed to the side of the track. I interpretted it at the time as "his thumb is laying over there". I guess I was right. Eeeeeek
