gyd58 Added a reply to To get Ohlins or not, that is the question...

I know a couple of pro riders who tried the Ohlins in the outdoors and SX last year and both have gone back to Showa. There is a reason the Showa A-kit suspension is used by more pro riders running the outdoor nationals and SX. Check out the starting line at any pro race and a lot of privateers are...

Quite a few Canadians have been going to Monster Mountain during the winters and at one time a lot of Canadians went to County Line in Fountain Florida. These are not training facilities like Matt Walker's MotoX Compound or MTF etc but, tracks with hook ups and tracks open every day during the winter. http://www.motoxcompound.com http://www.monstermx.com/live/ You need to consider...

In my experience with big bore 250F's just bolting on one of the big bore kits was not that good. They need a re-map (stock bikes need re-maps too) and head work.

gyd58 Added a reply to CRF250 2010 Starting problems [HELP PLEASE]

9/26/2013 11:23am
The 2010 had issues with the fuel filters and the fuel pump. Both have been updated by Honda. If yours has not been updated it could be one of your issues. We were replacing fuel filters constantly on the 2010 until we upgraded to the new pump and filter.

I have a Pro Circuit A-Kit from a YZF250. It is the conventional 49mm forks A-Kit not the new SFF Air A-Kit. I know it can be converted to Honda with fork lugs and I believe a shock body. Could be converted to YZ125 with just shock mods. If interested send me a message.

gyd58 Added a reply to Wiseco high comp piston

The Wiseco RC813M09600 piston for the 2008 CRF450 is significantly better than the OEM cast piston. Box forged, shot peened, nice skirt coating, dlc coated pin and Ti Nitride rings. We use CP but the Wiseco RC series is a really good piston and I would rather run it than the OEM piston.
You don't have to do much to a 450 motor for it to be competitive in fact, a good motor builder can easily make a 450 way faster than you can ride on a national caliber rough track. There is also no reason for a properly modified 450 to be hard to start, much less have to be bump started...

gyd58 Added a reply to 13 kx450 vs 13honda 450

8/12/2013 7:28pm
The Honda has a really flat torque curve which makes it easier to ride fast and easier to ride for long motos. The Honda also responds really well to head work. Just have a good motor builder port the head and remap it and it will be way faster than than you will need. All for less than the price...

Newmann, looks really good. If I remember correctly, the good thing about the top coat is you can rough it up and apply another coat if you decide you want the anti skid.

No, I am talking about "epoxy-coat", I looked at this product when I was researching floor covering for our shop. It is a terminology thing, all the epoxy coatings I found were "2 part epoxy", you have to mix part A to Part B to get the epoxy. The "epoxy-coat" is what I call a "one part epoxy coat" meaning...

Not a salesman and not pushing the product, just giving the guy what I experienced, after months of investigation, using the exact same product he is putting down. I don't think experience with a different product would be very helpful. I did not use all the additive and now wish I had and It is no problem sweeping the armorgarage...

The "epoxy-coat" is only a one part epoxy coat, the stuff he is using is three part. It has a primer coat, the 100% solid epoxy coat, and then a clear coat on top of the epoxy. Much better than the one coat. Regarding the anti-slip additive that some say is not needed, they are wrong. I have used the...

The T4 will run better than pump with stock mapping probably not as good as the U4.4. Your bike would run even better if remapped no matter what fuel you use. My son runs T4 for practice and have had no issues leaving it in the tank. The bike is ridden 3-5 days per week. If your bike is going...

gyd58 Added a reply to Athena big bore kits - 250F / 290F...experience?

My son raced CRF 284 big bores last year in the 450B mod and College Boy classes at Loretta’s. The bikes he raced were based on the Athena kit. We spent a whole lot of time testing on the dyno and on the track with heads, cams and ignitions. It was one of the sickest bikes, everybody that ever tried...

VP MR12 or VP Pro6 if cost is not an issue, about $20-25/gal. MR12 is not legal for AMA Pro racing and Pro6 is legal. VP T4 or VP VPR if cost is important, about $12/gallon. A stock 250f on MR12 and mapped correctly runs way better than it ever will with any 110 or 110/pump mix.

The 2009 450 fork tubes must be different than the 2010-2013 CRF450 or 2010-2013 CRF250. Have been running 21mm Ride clamps on 2010-2013 CRF250 and 2012-13 CRF450 and they are interchangeable with all those years except we changed the bottom bearing to put them on the 2013 450. When we got A-Kits for the 2013 CRF250 and 2013 CRF450, Chris...

You only need to bore the top clamp to accommodate the SFF A-Kit forks, and a machine shop can do it easily. My son is using the Ride 21mm clamps and we bored only the top clamp. Just take the shop the forks and they will measure the top of the fork tubes and bore them.
