After reading through the thread, we need better thread content, I figured I’d throw my bike out there. I’m down for the next 4 months after shoulder surgery. I bounced off a tree riding some single track after it started raining and, got slick. I was actually heading back to the truck because this damn red clay, turns into ice once it gets wet. This resulted in a fully torn rotator cuff, complete tears of my superstinautis tendon, subscapularis tendon. infraspinautus tendon as well. I think people need to realize there’s not a person on this thread that can actually use all of a 450 in third gear. Every track is different and everyone uses the clutch differently. I don’t use the clutch at all so I ride the gear that makes that possible, if a 450 doesn’t have enough bottom end for you you’re just in the wrong gear. The same people who want to compare 450 motors also say a 350 is all anyone needs in the next thread

I think it’s due to intensity level during a race.. Even us slow folk- I may not be jumping a double or whatever during practice, but during the moto I am far more focused and adrenaline flowing I have no issue jumping things I normally wouldn’t do during practice ..

I’m 41 and I still love having and want more performance cars. A gear head is a gear head. I actually find it weird when dudes that make a living as the fastest motorcycle riders in the world aren’t into shit like fast cars.

I have had luck smoothing the power out by adding fuel to every position and reducing ignition in every position, but also adjusting the throttle % value on the map. Take a look at the maps on Keefer's site to see the throttle % value's he used in his maps and mirror those. My favorite so far is simple, just +3 on fuel and -3 on ignition across the map with lower throttle % values like the Keefer maps. This has a little more power than the smooth map, but feels more linear and smooth across the range. This will...

11/6/2023 5:10pm This will sound crazy - but he fork is way soft - turn the comp in to 4-5 and ride it ? i had the same complaints and it improved but heavier springs and way more comp valving. Turn the rebound in a bit also as it will add some compression.

Yes, it is much faster to do a video interview than it is to transcribe one, wait for photos from a service, etc. We’ve tried to offset it by offering other written content, we actually publish more written content now than we have anytime in the past five years, by far. We’ve also done blocks of transcribing the interviews alongside video and the view change wasn’t noticeable. So what’s being asked here wasn’t reflected when we’ve tested it. We’ll keep trying to make things better.

11/4/2023 5:06am I would say it sums up this bike well.........for good and for bad. IMHO anyway. Curious question. Remember Yamaha delivered the bike with the forks up in the clamps and suggested 7mm fork height and 97mm sag. I would love to know how many guys/gals actually tried this setting. ?
