I am so tired of the video interviews

Wish we could get a written version so that I don’t have to watch a video of every interview. I guess it is easier to hold a camera than it is to type it out.

I agree. I have a young baby and any sound could wake a sleeping beast!! Some of the interviews Vital has put out recently has video and text. I assume they are in a hurry to get the content out as fast as possible, which is 100% understandable. How hard/worthwhile would it be to go back later and add text to the interviews? Thanks for all the content, Vital team!!

Turn the volume all the way down and turn on closed captioning.

Even worse are the video 250/450 bike shootouts!  Not sure who thought these were a good idea…

Seems the effort is wasted on weak content. But these are not professional journalists, nor do they geek out on performance tech.

Now when it comes to gear, graphics and bling, they are as informed as the next fashionista.

Count me in the "get off my lawn" crowd in regards to interviews.

The written word for me.

You also get the bonus video ad, before you can watch the video. It keeps my from clicking. I get that the bills have to be paid but, every video? and mostly the same ad.

Yes, it is much faster to do a video interview than it is to transcribe one, wait for photos from a service, etc.

We’ve tried to offset it by offering other written content, we actually publish more written content now than we have anytime in the past five years, by far.

We’ve also done blocks of transcribing the interviews alongside video and the view change wasn’t noticeable. So what’s being asked here wasn’t reflected when we’ve tested it.

We’ll keep trying to make things better.

I was moaning about the lack of written content a while ago, but I actually think things have got loads better. I'm really enjoying what Vital is putting out at the moment, especially the Editorials.

I haven't tried this yet. How does it work when an air compressor is blasting in the background for the duration of the video?

Plus one for the noise cancelling head phones for when the baby is screaming and you are trying to sooth it.

But I too would rather just read most things. I can skim through it real quick and get the gist of the conversation and move on.

I like the podcast version, can just let it play in my pocket while I’m doing jobs around the house.

There are quite a few AI solutions to transcribe video to text. MX Media should on top of this.

Definitely podcast app. Skip through parts you don't care about, listen at 1.3x or so and get through content quicker while doing other things.

I've tested all of these and none are good enough, but I certainly need to transcribe every interview that I do.

It's tough to fit in, but I beat myself up about it every week... It is the best way for the content to be delivered.

Leave it with me.
