I did 1 bicycle race season in an altitude tent. The tent increased hematocrit by ~4%. It didn't change the feeling, I just noticed more people tapping out around me while I kept going. I’m no “ know it all “ but I raced MX to a pro level back in the ‘80’s / early ‘90’s in the UK then raced bicycles to Pro/1 level in France & Australia in the ‘ 00’s . That in mind and knowing what I do I don’t really see EPO providing enough upside in MX to risk getting caught. Steroids, HGH etc etc yes I could see that but artificially bumping your hematocrit levels in MX? I know it means you can beat the shit out of yourself and recover like magic but MX beats your body...

Thought I'd share an update on my progress with the bike. As mentioned previously this has been a difficult bike to setup and I can understand why some give up on it. The main issue I found was it riding too low in the rear. I'm 183cm (6ft) & ~100kg with gear on and ended up on a 6.6KG Race Tech Shock Spring. The K-Tech (UK) Springs were either too soft or too firm. JBI suspension in the US were extremely helpful in encouraging me to use spring pre-load to guide spring rate, and completely disregard free/static sag. I am...

One issue I heard in passing, about ten minutes before the cancellation came out, was how Dirt Wurx was going to deal with re-routing the "motocross section". Everyone had agreed that section was beyond gone and needed to be cut out to keep racing, which might seem simple to re-route the track right before it left the grandstand area... However, they mentioned they would have to build a section to circumvent over the walls again, and with very muddy dirt. There were talks of running one section the wrong way to re-route a lane, and some other comments. Either way...

Local dealer support is good to have. I'm in a larger city so I have that with any brand. Since you're buying new, and already spending a nice chunk of cash, I suggest that outside of a crazy deal that you can't pass up, get your favorite bike. Whatever bike that is, it might cost you 5% more, or 5% less than the others, but on a $8-10k purchase, isn't $500 one way or the other worth riding the bike that you really want?

Anybody else have trouble getting a smart watch to get an accurate reading? I've felt like I'm dying and my heart is about to explode and it's never gotten above 160, and will often read 100+ when I'm calm, and 70ish during an intense workout. Are they all the same or does a cheaper garmin use a different technology to read your HR?
