fulltime wrench Added a reply to Front Brake Drag
5/18/2017 11:12am When brake fluid sits around in the master cylinder for a while, a crusty varnish like junk forms. I have seen the return port blocked by this stuff a couple times. This will stop or at least slow down the fluid returning to the master cylinder when the pistons retract. It is a very small orifice about the diameter of...

fulltime wrench Added a reply to Stiff clutch fixes?
4/27/2017 4:04am I replaced the OEM clutch cable once on my YZF with a Motion Pro cable. The stock cable was a few years old and i decided to replace it before it gave me problems. With the Motion Pro cable the pull was noticeably stiffer. I immediately called the Yamaha dealer and ordered an OEM cable. When i installed the replacement...

4/25/2017 9:44am Have you tried lubricating the clutch lever pivot? I can always feel a dry lever pivot and it drives me nuts. Take the lever off, clean and inspect it and the pivot bolt. If either is worn, replace them. Reassemble with plenty of grease. Also put a dab of grease on the cable end barrel as it rotates slightly and...
fulltime wrench Added a reply to No loss Air pump for forks?
4/23/2017 11:26pm The air you hear escaping is coming from the pump/gauge. Watch the gauge as you are disconnecting. You will see the needle fall to zero at the same instant you hear the air escape.
fulltime wrench Added a reply to Valve clearances
3/27/2017 6:52am You are over thinking it. From the center of the range, + or - .001", is the min and max clearance. You have a .002" range the clearance can fall within and be acceptable.

fulltime wrench Added a reply to 01 RM125 carb piston valve cracked carb swap??
3/21/2017 4:07pm The ebay carb is not a 2 stroke carb. It is a small bore 4 stroke carb. Most likely for a DRZ125 since it is under a Suzuki listing.
fulltime wrench Added a reply to Could reducing reciprocating mass make you faster ?
1/23/2017 5:17pm Reciprocating mass (reciprocation) is the action of an object moving linearly foward and back, or up and down within the same angular plane. Think reciprocating saw (sawzall to some). Lighter wheel/tire assembly weight is reducing rotational mass. This can reduce laptime. The lighter wheels will accelerate quicker and stop quicker. The bike will also corner better because a heavy wheel...

11/27/2016 9:39pm Not a drain plug. That is a mounting point for an ignition cover guard.

9/13/2016 10:11am Remove the pads Advance the pistons out of their bores. Dont let them go too far. If they wont come out evenly, just do one at a time. Spray around the pistons with brake cleaner. One mud race can pack enough crud in there to cause the pistons to start getting sticky. Maybe use a little WD-40 also, then follow...
fulltime wrench Added a reply to High pressure radiator caps
9/7/2016 1:34pm Hard to see from the angle of the picture, but it looks like the front of the radiator is blocked by that big piece of body work to me. Those small holes drilled in the plastic are most likely not allowing enough air through the radiator.

fulltime wrench Added a reply to 2006 RM250 chain rubbing the engine case
8/21/2016 5:48pm O-ring chains are wider than a standard chain and some are wider than another brand of o-ring chain. You should be able to find a spacer to put behind the sprocket. Not too thick or you will never be able to get the snap ring on the countershaft. Two things worth doing before you hunt down a spacer. First, inspect...
