The single worst day of racing I ever had was a D38 national during a torrential downpour. I almost died. My bike almost disappeared into a clay arroyo vortex of doom. I fell into an arroyo and was neck deep in silty, fast-flowing water. I had to walk 10 miles to the pits soaking wet. My 450x was completely ruined. Every bearing, bushing and seal needed to be replaced. Chain and sprockets destroyed. The motor was completely filled with silty muck. I pumped 10 gallons of diesel through it at midnight just to try to save the bottom end. The...

The fact that you don’t black flag a loose cannon like that shows how small time our sport is. Hopefully Honda raised all kinds of hell. Deegan just can’t help himself.

Such a strange response... Why even defend him? Does it hurt you personally that people are calling out Deegan's absolutely abhorrent behavior? These types of replies seem like a reflection on society as a whole these days. Everyone so attached to their "guy", their "team", etc. Oh, you're saying my guy did something shitty? That feels bad, can't be true, I will now lash out, then retreat into my echo chamber(s) and bring more ammo to the next argument. Already see the "Fans are so soft these days" defenses everywhere. Followed by blatant lies like racing was way more hardcore...

Imagine wanting to meet up with someone to fight because you only got to watch one hour of dirt bikes on Saturday instead of two, lol

A major concern from riders I heard that is unique to this venue...if a jump is sloppy or slick, there are plenty of instances in SX launching off the sides of jumps... Well, thanks to this being a four-wide drag strip, each lane has massive concrete barriers in between them to land on. I know many of us have raced mudders during our times in motocross or some form of off-road race. I can't imagine few if any of us have every race a SX mudder, though. That is its own beast.

I’m honestly torn. At 33 you have a few years left to go after it. However, only unless you are very financially set. If you have little ones depending on you to make it to work for their well being I’d shy against it. Best of luck no matter what you choose!

By no means type of guy to shit on someone's dreams....three kids and in your early 30s? Chasing one dream always has the opportunity cost of many others deferred. If I knew you in real life, I would tell you the same thing -- be brutally honest with yourself and as a family man, what all are you prepared to...

The amount of horrible advice in this thread is baffling. One, telling someone with concussion history/problems to "go for it" in one of the most dangerous sports in the world is odd. Two, you have four much bigger priorities in your life besides racing moto (wife and kids) potentially becoming a burden to them financially and physically. Three, this has essentially no upside other than your own hubris and "I got my pro card" cool but after all the time and money it's going to take to reach that, it's going to be a letdown. Very high risk, very low...
