My 20 350 had a hard time going into gear and was doing something similar to what you are describing. The shift star had some burrs on the edges and the points were rounded a bit. The shift shaft was rounded like the Factor E said here, plus I think it was a wee bit bent. So I replaced those 2 items and it shifts like butter now. Luckily you don't have to split the cases for either of those two parts. I was replacing a crank so I did have the cases split when I replaced mine. Should be...

Fuel filter or fuel pump? If it ran fine when you put it away, I don't think its the actual motor being an issue. Perhaps some corrosion in the connections to sensors on the bike. Check for breaks in wire harness. Put back together with dielectric grease.
