HondaSM Liked a reply to forum topic The tree at Loretta’s, WTF??

I can't wrap my head around the mentality of "he made a mistake and hit the tree" or "shit happens". These dudes are racing at the highest amateur level. Of course shit happens. That's why the tree shouldn't be there to begin with. Until promoters get into the routine of making tracks safe FOR when shit happens, tracks will keep getting sued. This mentality has gone through every form of car and motorcycle road racing 30 years ago. The sport is dangerous enough as it is.

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1FdSBRcvPw/ It shouldnt be possible to hit a tree. It wasn't even a big mistake. He jumped inside the track markers, he landed inside the track. Another thing that would and should never have passed a track security audit since you don't follow basic track design rules.

Or you know take another look at the track design and keep the tree but route the track away from it more? You know it might take $2,500 or so from the cash grab of this race to slightly change the track but I’m sure they will still be able to put food on their families tables…

Phillips 66 Specialty Chemical plant in Borger Texas. You can find it on google maps. It was built to refine 115/145 AV during WW2 for the P51 Mustang. It can and does produce batches in much smaller quantities with tighter tolerances than a "normal" gas refinery.

It's the lowest octane non ethanol, non oxygenated fuel I can buy here in Vegas... there is no way I am pouring that garbage they bring from California with ethanol in my motorcycle Especially when I have heard it mildly ping under load when it is over 100 degrees. What do you run in your motorcycle or What is your suggestion since you seem to know what is best.. honestly asking!?

Funny trend I have noticed over the years. The smaller the rider the bigger the rig. The bigger the rider the smaller the rig. Kids on 50's rolling in with massive rigs, while the 18-20 year old rolls in their sprinter van. Not 100% of the time, but a high percentage the last several years.

Is it "possible" to do it on 1 bike. Yes, of course. If we're talking an adult, in a Vet class, etc. That makes it a lot easier. What happens to your buddy if he cracks a cylinder or a rock hits his cases in practice 1 week before LL? He isn't getting parts or repairs in time on his single bike and now his thousands in entry fees and hotels goes *poof*. So, yeah, it's possible, but it's a lot of risk for all the money and commitment involved. Also, there's a difference between an adult going a whole...

And money. And a motorhome for all these regionals, areas, etc. And bikes, because at that level you should be hammering seat time and bikes now turn to shit with high hours. And more $$ for track fees. So no. OP is accurate. Maybe in 80’s and 90’s you were correct, but times have changed.

Just did Freestone regional few weeks ago, was around 2k for the weekend. By the time you get transponders, practice, races, entry fees, It’s retarted. Me, my brother and my father did 7 classes all up, but man, it’s all about the fun and experience, I’ll look back and tell my kids about these times. An at the end of the day, thats what it’s all about. The amount of families these days that do nothing with there kids is sad, our family is staying in a trailer. Laughing, fishing, cooking, it’s all about the bond, it’s worth it. Wish...

My biggest pev is multi area/regional people, and alternatives going to regionals, having the chance as the people who qualified for it. Should be limited to your home state areas and regional.

Yes, all that. It is a huge commitment in time, money, and other resources. And, you are lucky being in GA. Your area, region, and LL all within relative short distance. Imagine paying for gas for some kinda hauler all the way from out here in the SW. Anyone who says you don't need 3 bikes. Yeah, you pretty much do. At least 2. Very few serious/fast kids can ride 1 bike all year for the area, region, and LL, not to mention all the other races and 100's of hours of training. Number 1, dad will be dead trying...

I don't believe youve mentioned what classes you guys were in? What regional? Regionals CAN be fun if you go in to it with the right attitude. I don't have a chance anymore, and I know that when I go.. but moto 2 going off the line with 40 guys is definitely fun and a rush most can only experience at a regional.
