Most of the big amateur races DC was talking about that comprise the "amateur MX season" have been around longer than he has had control of the AMA MX series. I'm sure he doesn't want to step on too many more toes by creating this amateur national championship and taking away from those races and venues. I gotta disagree on the 125 series though. I think running a full series of them would be better than exhibition races even if it means some of the old guys don't come out for it. This could be split into a East/West divisions...

Didn't the nationals originally go to the one day format due to the teams and riders wanting it to be as much of a canned event as SX? They didn't want a long weekend? And of course now we hear "the tv slot" and "the camera crew" as being a limiting factor in the race day program. Just not enough time they say.

I am over it. I said the US got beat fair and square. We have been racing SX since the 70’s with split seasons so thats a non issue. What happened was the GP riders got better at jumping. We used to win on GP tracks from our SX roots. The euros figured it out. Changed their tracks and now jump shit before we do as well as tradionally been better at turning. Do with it what you will.

I would love to see Dean do a GP season . Think he would be a great signing for someone.

I learned my fellow Americans like to bitch about used porta johns at an event with 80,000 people. I learned alot of my fellow Americans are sore losers, and will grasp for any explanation regarding why they were robbed of winning-Damn the obvious. SX sucks for the most part, canned entertainment. The more that SX becomes the norm, the less important that MX will become, less MX tracks will exist and less MX bikes will be sold. Catering the sport to 10% of the people that ride or race is a surefire way to kill the sport. We will do worse in the future at the MXdN following that course. SX is a circus show. MX is motocross. But I have really enjoyed watching the MXGP races over the last few years a lot more than the Outdoor Nationals. The tracks are different, they are like real motocross and they get very rough. Our tracks have a lot of SX type jumps and they are all ripped deep with almost the same dirt composition. Herlings would easily win our Outdoors Series if he raced in the USA in my opinion.
