Supercross is exciting at first but it tends to get boring fast - usually by rd 7 half the contenders are out injured.

Again it has it's place, I do enjoy it, but imo the whole thing should be shorter to give these guys some time to rest and recuperate. In a perfect world that'll never exist I'd knock it down to 12 rds personally.

Are you complaining girls even fans of the sport.. I mean really?
I enjoy watching any race anywhere even if I don’t know the people in it...
If you don’t watch supercross and find it “boring” then find a new sport/forum to complain on, I will be sure to stay off your lawn!

Injuries. Technicality and no room for error. Groomed bowl turns. Strait 180 strait 180 strait 180 strait 180 strait 180
I do enjoy both sx and mx but i think there is too much emphasis on sx at the moment.

sx is akin to fmx,
a dog and pony act for gory seekers..

why else would feld be running it?

it has its moments and provides great "tv" exposure for tge oems..

but like many others here 6 or so rounds and it hòhum to me..

yes its skillful but less demanding than mx..

I have 3 decades of riding under my belt, don’t see how that changes anything.
I love racing and love watching the top guys go at it, if you really think the racing is boring then I think you aren’t a true fan of the sport?

In fact, I'll go one step further and say that on most typical AMA tracks, with normal conditions, Eli is just as fast as Herlings. Yet, Eli has experience and talent on both types of tracks. The point here is that one race in the mud and sand doesn't prove as much as a lot of people want it to.
Oeh.
How can some track can be more AMA track than RedBud? Or Ironman?

Supercross is made for TV and not as impressive in person because the tracks are much slower and the jumps are smaller. Motocross is higher speeds, huge jumps, wide open riding that's way more impressive to see in person.

I'm a fan of both MX and SX for different reasons. But are you serious about SX not being impressive in person? Do you actually ride a bike? Go walk a SX track and tell me what those guys do on that track isn't impressive to watch!!

I started out riding motocross not fkn supercross. Supercross is fun for a couple of rounds but that's it. Supercross should only be some sideshow during offseason and a oppurtunity to make som extra $$$. 16-20 rounds of outdoors and 6 rounds of supercross would be perfect for me

Riding some supercross tracks is a great way to earn some skill that is useful for outdoors too though.

When did they race eachother in the sand? Just wait till Assen next year then Tomac actually might get lapped by Herlings. Just as he did to the American boys in Lommel.

Can we pleeeeaaase stop justifying the MXoN loss by saying Herlings would get smoked in SX?

Every year I get really into SX right off the bat, tighter confines leads to closer racing, and everything is shiny and new. Then about halfway through, it gets really old. Same thing every weekend. Half the field is hurt. I get tired of seeing them hit the same triples and jump combos every single weekend. Then outdoors come and every weekend is different! I do think we need more variety in our racing surfaces though, more sand tracks, let Unadilla start out as grass again, leave some tracks hard packed or just lightly tilled. Let more skillsets shine! Not just the same loamy deep rut fest every weekend, then it starts feeling like SX.

By the looks of this picture there is nothing wrong with SX. I'd say there were more people at the SX than any other event at the speedway this year excluding the 500.

Only thing missing is Eli showing up in a Dale Sr. themed #3 Intimidator riding gear. Alpinestars please get this done...

SX is great, MX is great. Having 2 series a year is awesome. Small changes could make it perfect imo, 14 rounds of each series and 2 day format to MX with Pro-Am races integrated into the weekend like the gps.

I think it all depends on whether you came into moto pre-McGrath - or not. For those of us who are pre-McGrath, Supercross is just too flashy and sanitized for a sport we see as a test of athleticism and endurance that properly takes place outdoors and in rain-or-shine conditions (like what just happened at Red Bud, for example). Myself, I love racing on a muddy track, because I can beat guys who can smoke me in dryer conditions. But for those of us who came in during McGrath's reign or after, Supercross, which has an absurd risk/reward factor but also carries the allure of riches, mainstream fame, and beautiful women, is where it's at. Some on here call Supercross a "circus" as a way of dismissing it, not realizing that, for many, if not most, of today's young racers, that 'circus-like' atmosphere is what they're drawn to. No Euro who's come here to race Supercross has done so hoping for the chance to become an unknown recluse, that's for damn sure; and few, if any, Americans who have gone to Europe to race have ever come back more famous and wealthy than they would have been if they'd stayed and won races here in the States. Just ask Mark Blackwell, Brad Lackey, Jim Pomeroy, Mike Guerra, Zach Osborne, Thomas Covington, etcetera, etcetera.

SX sucks for the most part, canned entertainment. The more that SX becomes the norm, the less important that MX will become, less MX tracks will exist and less MX bikes will be sold. Catering the sport to 10% of the people that ride or race is a surefire way to kill the sport. We will do worse in the future at the MXdN following that course.

McGrath May have been King, but he was King of the three ring circus.

Anyone who can’t see the truth in this and offers up a thumbs down is a functional retard. Just sayin...

I agree that on a good day tomac can run with herlings and that mxon is being overanalyzed to mean more than it should, I like sx but it just sucks how many guys get hurt and I just like outdoors more

Are you guys suggesting that AMA supercross is the reason that AMA motocross is only 12 rounds long?

If you have 3 decades, then you must be bored like many... when you get fed the same old shit every weekend for What seems like an eternity, then the hunger isn't there or maybe it is a case of Stockholm Syndrome.

Not enough track variations. Same cookie cutter tracks week after week. Try new obstacles. Some might work, some might not but at least there's a chance it could make the racing better.

I would like sx a lot more if they would try doing more events like daytona. That makes for more variations and a generally safer track.

I think most will agree that there tends to be more injured riders from sx racing and practice than mx. Replace a few of the rounds with 3-4 more hybrid/ older daytona style tracks and I think that would be sweet.

There you go.

All the hype all the time and yet there is so little knock down, drag out bar banging racing.

Putting 450s on sx tracks is like putting f1 cars on a go cart track. Yeah, it is impressive, but only that they hold them back enough to stay on the coarse.

It would be far more entertaining, as far as I am concerned, to see the field all mounted on xr 100s and pushing the bikes to their limits than the monotony of watching riders being pushed past their limits on machines with capabilities that exceed the confines of the stadiums.
