Idk I’ve always felt a difference in power from throwing a system on my bikes. 2020 KX250 pinned 4th gear would just barely put me over this big double, threw an FMF header and slip on on it and pinned 4th gear had me landing right where I wanted. 25 KX250 I balled out and got a PC full Ti system. Carbon cap looks bitchin and so does the titanium. If you have the money and it makes you happy, buy the damn exhaust system. We don’t get as much time on our dirtbikes as we wish, so why not...

For 2 strokes a pipe can make a huge difference. You want your YZ 250 to be a torquey woods bike - a flywheel weight and a gnarly and you’ve got a very different bike. Not more power - that’s not the point. Better power for what you’re doing.

On a local level the insurance deal is probably going to continue to take tracks out. This morning I waited to see if my closest one(1 hour drive) was even going to be able to open. Looks like they will. If not my closest option is 2 hours or if I want to hit Hangtown 3 hours. 50 years into this and I do not plan to stop but Mountain biking is 15 minutes from the house and that becomes an easier decision what to do when I have some time off.

I think the speed of bikes these days (which has likely been a driver of more injuries), the cost of racing relative to the amount of money people earn, and that people won’t spend a whole Sunday for 8 laps, is pushing more people, including me, to practice days and trail riding. Hell, I typically choose a sandy turn track at a pit in NJ over a practice day. More laps and the pit is free. I really don’t want my kid to race, but I hope he has the same love for riding I do.

For us it came down to costs and injury rate. It's a blast to ride and/or race, but it's strictly a financial loss scenario. After 15 years and likely over $200,000 we stopped. The real driver though was injuries. My rider got tired of being hurt, and after some big crashes, decided he was done pushing his luck. My wallet is glad he is done although he learned many good lessons, developed good habits, and met a lot of good people along the way and we will miss that. I think there is not more than 10-15 years left in...

This sport is more of a culture than a hobby or activity. It requires humongous amounts of buy-in and commitment beyond what I think is healthy or realistic. Also, I will not feasibly be able to provide for them a regular riding schedule and certainly wont pass the buck onto my wife for that. Many reasons honestly. The biggest is probably that I want my children to pursue Christ primarily and motocross is so consuming that it conflicts with literally everything in a persons life if done at any level above D class. If they see me riding and love...

I don't see the sport growing for recreation and hobby ever again unless we have something like another national covid shut down. The covid shut down and money printing gave bike sales a huge boost and now we are back to reality. We are now seeing a fallout with the downturn in the economy and cost of living being so high. When this happens, the toys are the first things to go. Plus, the younger generation is just not into bikes like we were as kids. A lot of them don't even want or care to get drivers licenses. It's...

Currently, I think we’re slowly breaking out of being a small sport, as we see with the whole SMX route, and other marketing they are doing. This past supercross season they bragged that was the highest watched SX season ever in history, with viewers. Despite what you may feel about them, Haiden and Jett are massively contributing to the growth. Stadiums are filling up, and nationals being filled (at least to my knowledge). We have more factory teams now with triumph, Ducati, Beta, and more spots for a team ride. So as far as the professional standpoint, I think we’re...

It all fell into place perfectly for JMart, and when Deegan got into second place, and realized he had the overall , he went from 2.5 seconds back to 9 back. That, IMO was because he saw no reason to ruin JMarts final Moto. NOT saying Deegan could have caught Jeremy, just that he backed down his efforts to do so.

Not sure what type of agriculture you have in your region, but here in NorCal, most of the operators mix in rice hulls from time to time. Rice farming is huge here so they are very easy to come by. I've also seen sawdust, mulch and some manure.

Same, 42 going on 43. Been there. My perspective is it's not worth it to try and chase the glory. I get out and ride my TC250 when I can but I know I'll never be competitive when looking at some of the younger riders. Racing/winning a vet class wouldn't feel like much of a milestone because I know the guys in the A/B classes would eat my up like birthday cake in an actual race. Having 2 little ones and a wife who depend on you is also more important than getting out there and experiencing the thrill. Take...

I have a ton of respect for all these guys, I've been riding and racing for over 35yrs and if I'm on the bike back to back weekends I need a break. I can't imagine grinding like they do and racing something like 30 plus weekends a year. They are all animals in my opinion.

He's a professional athlete representing Honda, he is paid to say the new model is better, so it sells, why would he say anything different?

Theyre fine, but what I really mean is the way yamaha has slowly refined the same bike since like 2014 and ktm did the same with the bikes everyone loved from 2016-2022. Both slowly tweaking small things year to year with a plastic refresh after each new generation of time has passed to feed the need for it looking new. Even then the yamaha plastics havent changed very much either and ktm in that period looked the same but the plastics just kept getting smaller. I think the slow and steady tweaks with a plastics refresh every 4 years is...

Thanks for the replies everyone! I’m currently staying in Edgewood, MD. DC was very interesting and once I got the public transportation figured out, it was a breeze. Looking forward the race Saturday!

We did some of DC today. I feel it’s gonna take more than a day. Wife wants to go to Annapolis so I think that’s tomorrow’s plan.

Oh ok. I did not do a search. Didn’t have enough time. Had to board connecting flight. I’ll search it up and go from there. Thanks!

I am currently headed to the east coast from Northern California. Planning on hitting Budds Creek on Saturday. Anything i should know about the area and getting to that facility? I’ll be staying in Virginia. Also, any suggestions about food or other activities in the area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
