Hey folks, I’m excited to announce that I have taken a position here at Vital MX as an Editor-At-Large. M.L. great breakdown of all the bikes!!! As it is now the Honda will never have low end as strong as the other bikes. It has the shortest stroke, slowest piston speed per revolution, less stroke leverage and large intake valves. It takes a little more rpm's to get the air moving, it is what it is. More mid and top seems to be the new trend for 250f's and Honda with a great chassis, suspension and new motor is moving in the right direction as is the rest of the bikes in the class. Even Yamaha loss a little...

Well said. Great review! I have a riding buddy having this done to his 150. Looking forward to doing some laps on it now.

Honda's 2018 CRF250R followed in the footsteps of the highly-anticipated CRF450R redo from the prior year. However, as we soon found out during our First Look testing, and even more during the Shootout, the newest CRF has an amazing chassis and great balance...but is lacking a bit in the motor department for the first year. Most notably there's a lack of roll-on power and torque needed to get the bike up and going at lower revs. Once things are wound up though, the bike is a blast...it just needs a bit more oomph to really round out the package.
