Those slides are different from each other in more ways than just the slide cut away. The Yamaha and KTM TMX-x slides cant be used in the Honda TMX-x without being modified. Not too mention that the Yamaha slide is a notched #4.25. If I had to venture ... more »

The only thing that I'll add, is that I left it rough so that you could see where and what was cut. I use a small drum sander to smooth it out before I give them back.

Yes, you may possibly need to use a 27.5 pilot in the heat, depending on how large of a notch you made.

You have a couple of issues going on there. That bike, I believe comes with an S-1 needle jet. It needs to be changed to a richer S-4 needle jet. The jet needle also has a starting diameter, 71 , that is too rich for that bike. That bike needs a needle ... more »

I do it the “B” way that you have illustrated above, and blend the cut area into the center. The slide is marked as to which # it is on the small pad on the top side of the slide.

You didn’t mention if you notched the front side of the slide or not. If you haven’t? I would recommend that you do so, and then decrease the pilot to a 30 or possibly a 27.5 in the heat.

I just had to rejet a 21' YZ 250 yesterday. I prefer the triple taper Suzuki NExx needles over the Duel taper N3xx needles in that particular bike,YZ250,. IMO, it helps in putting the power to the ground better. You're good with that Suzuki NEDJ needle. ... more »

The starter plunger/ choke knob from a yz 250 is a direct replacement for the KTM carb and much much cheaper than the KTM part #. https://www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/4JT-14171-00-00?ref=aeac9d8006050f3cd9f67604a92b5285bba8b592

At 50 deg f and 4000', you're going to be pretty close to std summer time sea level conditions. The pilot may need to be richened one step, depending on the air screw position. The needle should be good, and the main should be in the 480-490 range.

You are right on the edge with that 5.75 slide, in a 250 , but still on the good side. As far as the temp range goes, you should be good from 60f--to 90f,with just air screw adjustments, but that slide may be a touch lean in cooler conditions. this is ... more »

What needle are you using ? I hope you're not trying to use the original needle that came in the 94' KX PWK. I believe they used a C or D starting diameter in those bikes, which is waaaaay too rich for what, IMO, you need. I would suggest you use a Suzuki ... more »

Added reply in a thread KTM 125/150 vs Yamaha YZ 125 handling question 2/16/2021 6:52 AM

This is not correct. The notch that you have pictured actually increases the efficiency of the pilot circuit, which in turn will necessitate a leaner pilot. BTW, that notch looks fairly accurate to what I would recommend and use in the slides that I ... more »

That’s pretty much exactly where we said you would end up. I’m not sure if you notched the front side of the slide, but depending on the size of the notch, it will require a smaller pilot jet.
